VIII. MAIN BODY:

Proverbs 23:8 (Amplified Bible)

The morsel which you have eaten you will vomit up, and your complimentary words will be wasted.

Proverbs 23:8 (New King James Version)

The morsel you have eaten, you will vomit up, And waste your pleasant words.

A. The morsel you will vomit up

"The morsel which you have eaten you will vomit up,"

The context is if you eat the food and drink the drink of a stingy person, a person whose heart is not with you but is in the cost.

The morsel or meal you have eaten will be vomitted up by you. So I usually asked a person if he/she wants to treat me food, "Is your heart with me?" If his heart is not with me, then I will not bother anything that is put in my front by him. I'm a weird person I know, but I know Someone's weirder than me, that is the LORD JESUS CHRIST. He's totally out of this world, and He's teaching us not to get sick in the stomach.

One of the characteristic of a godless (unbeliever) man is he will vomit up all the things that he got here on earth.

"he has swallowed down [his ill-gotten] riches, and he shall vomit them up again; god will cast them out of his belly. "

Such is the future of an ungodly man.

Job 20:5-17 (Amplified Bible)

That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless and defiled is but for a moment?

Though his [proud] height mounts up to the heavens and his head reaches to the clouds,

Yet he will perish forever like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, Where is he?

He will fly away like a dream and will not be found; yes, he will be chased away as a vision of the night.

The eye which saw him will see him no more, neither will his [accustomed] place any more behold him.

The poor will oppress his children, and his hands will give back his [ill-gotten] wealth.

His bones are full of youthful energy, but it will lie down with him in the dust.

Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hides it under his tongue,

Though he is loath to let it go but keeps it still within his mouth,

Yet his food turns [to poison] in his stomach; it is the venom of asps within him.

HE HAS SWALLOWED DOWN [HIS ILL-GOTTEN] RICHES, AND HE SHALL VOMIT THEM UP AGAIN; GOD WILL CAST THEM OUT OF HIS BELLY.

He shall suck the poison of asps [which ill-gotten wealth contains]; the viper’s tongue shall slay him.

He shall not look upon the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter [to enjoy his wealth].

Proverbs 25:16 (Amplified Bible)

Have you found [pleasure sweet like] honey? Eat only as much as is sufficient for you, lest, being filled with it, you vomit it.

There are things in life that we enjoy because they are only a few. Too much of it will be vomitted up, waisted away , not being enjoyed. In the opposite, GOD'S command to us is:

Luke 12:15 (Amplified Bible)

And He said to them, Guard yourselves and keep free from all covetousness (the immoderate desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more); for a man’s life does not consist in and is not derived from possessing overflowing abundance or that which is over and above his needs.

For our life here on earth does not consist in and is not derived from possessing overflowing abundance or that which is over and above our needs. GOD'S goal is to provide for all our needs and that's sufficient for us knowing that truth.

Philippians 4:19 (Amplified Bible)

And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

B. The sweet words wasted away

"and your complimentary words will be wasted"

Psalms 35:20 (Amplified Bible)

For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful matters against those who are quiet in the land.

Psalms 36:3 (Amplified Bible)

The words of his mouth are wrong and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.

Romans 3:13-14 (Amplified Bible)

Their throat is a yawning grave; they use their tongues to deceive (to mislead and to deal treacherously). The venom of asps is beneath their lips.

Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

Psalms 5:9 (Amplified Bible)

For there is nothing trustworthy or steadfast or truthful in their talk; their heart is destruction [or a destructive chasm, a yawning gulf]; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter and make smooth with their tongue.

Psalms 140:3 (Amplified Bible)

They sharpen their tongues like a serpent’s; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

Psalms 10:7 (Amplified Bible)

His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, oppression (fraud); under his tongue are trouble and sin (mischief and iniquity).

This world's mouth as we can see are enemies of GOD. They conceal this mouth with "sweet words", flattery, beautiful things they say to you that make you look and feel good, but they don't mean a thing of it. Their hearts are saying it differently, opposite to what they are saying. I have to learn this the hard way. I thought all people are good because they are created by GOD, but to my dismay and brokenness, they are not. Because they have to get the right first to become sons of GOD to be good and acceptable before GOD.

John 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You taught me how to guard my heart with Your WORDS so that when pressed I will say Your WORDS and not mine.
