1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men (anthropos, inclusive; person / human)

a human being, whether male or female generically, to include all human individuals to distinguish man from beings of a different order of animals and plants of from God and Christ of the angels with the added notion of weakness, by which man is led into a mistake or prompted to sin with the adjunct notion of contempt or disdainful pity with reference to two fold nature of man, body and soul with reference to the two fold nature of man, the corrupt and the truly Christian man, conformed to the nature of God with reference to sex, a male indefinitely, someone, a man, one in the plural, people joined with other words, merchantman

2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

We need to pray for the leaders of the nations.

3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

4 who desires all men (anthropos) to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

This is a key verse of the Bible. What are we doing about this?

5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men (anthropos), the man (anthropos) Christ Jesus,

6 who gave Himself as a ransom (we were held hostage by the devil) for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) (sent one; apostles can be controversial, because of their authority) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Paul started with the Jews then went to the Gentiles.

8 Therefore I want the men (males, aner)

with reference to sex of a male of a husband of a betrothed or future husband with reference to age, and to distinguish an adult man from a boy any male used generically of a group of both men and women

in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. (It’s OK to worship like this.)

9 Likewise, I want women (gune, plural, think of the word gynecology) (a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow a wife of a betrothed woman) to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,

10 but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women (gune) making a claim to godliness.

This was culturally inappropriate then. We are not as concerned about this now. There is a reason there is a dress code when your family members visit here. I agree it may be best to be simple. God is more concerned about what we do than what we look like. It is important to be professional, though.

11 is about a woman "A woman (gune, singular) must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness."

12 But I do not allow a woman (gune, singular) to teach or exercise authority over a man (aner), but to remain quiet.

13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.

14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman (gune, singular) being deceived, fell into transgression.

Adam wasn’t totally innocent. Who was she? “a vocal promoter of the false teachings troubling the Ephesian church” p. 214

15b is about women "But women (plural) will be preserved through childbirth—if they continue in faith, love, and sanctity, with moderation."

Be aware of IF statements. There is usually a THEN implied.
