Summary: The Devil was overcome by the Blood of Jesus in heaven and driven to the earth. He can be overcome over and over again by the believers here on earth through the Blood of Jesus.

Victory over the Devil by the Blood of Jesus Christ

Study Text: Revelations 12:11

Introduction:

-. John captured a glimpse of Heaven’s glorious throne and all he could see was the Lamb of God “slain from the foundation of the world.”

- And seeing nobody but Christ, he understood the secret to man’s victory over evil. And he shouted: “They overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony!”

- The Blood of Jesus Christ provides our victory over every enemy. It is the seal and security of our salvation. And it should never be far away from our confession.

- There is an unquestionable connection between our words and how we handle life. God wants our confession to coincide with the convictions of our heart.

-. We need to believe in our hearts and make a proclamation that our lives are completely covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ.

- Pleading the Blood of Jesus is a verbal declaration sent to nullify Satan’s work and enforce Christ’s dominion.

- It announces Christ’s authority over anything that stands before you.

-. Whenever you mention the Blood of Jesus, you are forcing the Devil to recount the worst mistake he ever made. 1 Corinthians 2:8

-. We shall be discussing the topic under three subheadings:

1. The Portrait of the Enemies.

2. The Provisions of the Blood of Jesus

3. The Preservation of our Victory

1. The Portrait of the Enemies

- For various reasons, the battle of life has proved to be of tremendous difficulty to mankind in every generation.

- First and foremost, the enemy is often difficult to identify correctly, coming in different forms and sizes.

- Sometimes, the enemy comes in the form of human opposition, criticism and antagonism, and other times, in the form of physical challenges and obstacles.

-. The enemy also comes as natural occurrences which one would expect to naturally fade away with time, but down the line, such occurrences metamorphose into serious problems.

- The battles of life can come to us through a human agent in the most subtle but wicked manner and it can also take the form of a dramatic open challenge.

- At the onset of every battle of life, its spiritual dimension is not usually obvious. However, the Bible teaches that there is a spiritual dimension to every battle. Ephesians 6:12

- As children of God, although the enemy of our soul may look intimidating, we should not be frightened by his visage or his history of destruction. Instead, focus on the truth of God’s word that reveals him as a conquered enemy. Hebrews 2:14, Luke 10:18-19.

This is the high standpoint of the Christian faith. This is the only ground on which a child of God should meet the Devil and his agents. We are overcomers! The element and resources of our victory clearly supersede the resources of our wicked enemies.

The element of our victory is the Blood of Jesus, and the weapon of our warfare is the word of God. We must continuously resist the Devil with words of the scripture and believe its declaration in your heart.

- We cannot confront the Devil and his agents with human wisdom, scientific inventions, philosophy, or ethical principles; rather, confront them with the Blood of Jesus Christ, which signifies the seal of our victory in the Lord.

- Always remember that the battle is not ours but the Lord’s. At the beginning of this conflict with Devil in the Garden of Eden, it was prophesied that the seed of the woman will bruise the head of the serpent. Jesus is that seed of the woman. Christians must enter the battle of life with confidence that the Lord is fighting for us, and that we are simply following His banner and claiming victory in His Name.

-. Let us praise and worship the Almighty God who has granted us victory through the Blood of Jesus.

2. The Provisions of the Blood of Jesus.

- There is a Provision of Christ’s Blood from all bodily places at His crucifixion. He bled from His back, head, hands, feet, and side.

- Each of these wounded areas symbolizes an area of our life that Christ promises to protect and bless.

I. The Blood from Christ’s Back Provides Healing.

- When Christ went to Calvary, Pilate lashed His back with 39 stripes. Isaiah 53 says, “He was pierced for our transgression; He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we were healed.”

-. In the Old Testament, God revealed Himself as man’s Healer. One of the compound names He used to identify Himself was Jehovah-Rapha—“God our Healer.” He then made the pledge in Exodus 15:26, “I am the Lord your God who heals you,” and throughout the Old Testament He healed.

- For the prophesied Messiah to be equal with the Father, He had to duplicate the healing works of Jehovah from the Old Testament. Jesus healed the sick everywhere He travelled. Acts 10:38

-. The healing name of Jesus Christ still declares His Lordship. Jesus is “the same yesterday and today and forever” and His healing power is still available.

II. The Blood from Christ’s Head Provides Soundness of Mind.

- John 19:2 says the soldiers crucifying Him “twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head.” When they did, the thorns pierced Christ’s brow and forced Blood from His head.

That Blood provides Believers with soundness of mind. It assures us that we can have victory in our thought life.

-. The Devil usually attacks with tormenting thoughts, bizarre dreams, panic attacks, flashbacks, and fear.

- The Apostle Paul even said that Satan creates strongholds in the mind. If you can think it; Satan will attack it.

-. Because Christ conquered the vulnerability of human thinking we can use His Blood to repel Satan’s attacks there too. 2 Corinthians 10:5

- There may be some people that need to reclaim their peace of mind. Confess the Blood! Say, “Satan, the Blood of Jesus Christ resists your assault against my mind. Go!”

- The Blood of Christ will “Let the peace of God guard your heart” and mind.

III. The Blood from Christ’s Hands Provides Blessing for our Enterprising.

The Bible uses the imagery of hands to represent our enterprising. That means the Blood flowing from Christ’s nailed-scarred hands secures blessing for our labours.

- There is no ambiguity there. You don’t have to pray about whether God wants to bless you because, He already made that choice for you. He’s waiting for you to accept His offer and claim His blessing.

- You have the legal right to lift your hands toward Heaven and declare that the Blood of Jesus blesses your labours.

- This doesn’t mean you won’t have tough times. Everyone goes through seasons of drought and transition.

- You might even go through a season of prolonged adversity that delays the fruit of your labours. It’s just part of life. In fact, plowing, persevering, struggling, and waiting are all part of God’s process.

- God knows how to make adversity work for your good. And many times He forces you into hardship. It’s because struggle prepares you for your “moment.”

-. No matter where you are in life—whether you’re employed or unemployed; in training or reigning; retired or retreading—you can put your hands into the nail-scarred hands of Christ and declare that His blessing enriches your endeavours. Psalm 92:12

IV. The Blood from Christ’s Feet Provides for a Victorious Walk.

- The Blood spilled from Christ’s pierced feet offers power to walk in victory.

- The Lord didn’t send His Son to the agonies of the Cross and offer the glories of redemption for you to live in defeat. He wants your going-forth to be blessed from dawn till dusk.

-. Every Christian is a Priest of Christ, and He wants you living in victory.

- You have Covenant authority to resist the powers of darkness and command victory through Christ’s Blood of Jesus. Luke 10:19 .

V. The Blood from Christ’s Side Provides Salvation from Sin.

- The spear that split open the flow of Blood from Christ’s side washes away our sins and provides for our eternal salvation.

- It makes us sons and daughters of God.

- Now it becomes evident why Christ shed His Blood at Calvary. His Blood guarantees every promise of the Bible.

-. The Blood speaks in our behalf. It’s the Blood that heals our sickness, gives us peace, blesses our labour, guides our path, and pardons our sin. That’s what John the Revelator meant when he said, “they overcame [Satan] by the Blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.”

3. The Preservation of our Victory.

- We live in a world of multiplied darkness and wickedness; a world with an increase in unbelievable dimensions of evil, and this evil is multiplied because the devil knows that his time is short Revelation 12:12

-. We have victory in Jesus Christ, and the practicality of the preservation of our Victory are outlined below:

1. We are preserved by His life. John 1:12,16; 1John 4:4

- We share in His life which is indestructible.

Whatever filled Christ has filled us: He has the life of God in Him, so we have the life of God in us.

- If nobody can take Jesus life from Him and you have the same life of Christ in you, you don't need to be afraid that a man can take your life from you. John 19:10-11

- You are destined to walk through danger unhurt. You have a life, the life of Christ, that can pass through danger unnoticed and unharmed. Psalms 23:4

2. We are preserved by His power. Luke 10:19; Romans 8:11.

- The power of God is given to you to deal with the Devil and to proceed without consequence.

- The power of God is given to you to vitalize and energize your body. Romans 8:11

3. We are preserved by His death. John 18:3-9; Hebrews 2:9.

-. Jesus Christ agreed to die, so that we can live through His death. John 18:3-9

-. Our Saviour only agreed to die for death and destruction to allow us to go our ways. Christ died young for you to live long; He died dangerously so you can live gloriously; He died a painful death so you can live a pain-free life; He died violently so you can live victoriously (Hebrews 2:9)

4. We are preserved by His Resurrection. Ephesians 1:19-23; 2:6

- The resurrection of Christ gives the believer the capacity to sit far beyond the reach of the devil.

-. There are things necessary for us to do in order to access this preservation:

1. By access to Light and Truth from the Word. John 1:1-5; John 17:17; Psalms 91:4

- Every revelation embraced from the Word is a Personality of Jesus Christ and that Personality is Light that is perceivable by agents of darkness.

- The revelation of the Word in your spirit forms a shield of defence around your life from both spiritual and physical arrows

2. By the building of strong faith from the Word. 1John 5:4

- You use the Word to calculate your utterance, organize your moves and steps, and to eradicate fear because fear is the antagonist of faith.

- When God sees your faith, He moves on your behalf to confirm that you have not believed in vain.

- Every time you are challenged, charge your faith until you come to a fresh level of audacity; and anytime you are charged, you take charge.

3. By continuous activation of the life of Christ in you through the Communion. John 6:54-57

- As Christ is sustained by the Father who sent Him, anyone who eats the Body of Christ is sustained by Christ.

Conclusion:

-. The only way Israel could enjoy the blessings of their Old Testament Covenant was through the shedding of blood.

-. Year after year the priests made a fresh application of the blood as the Jews gathered to worship God. And every blessing of the New Testament depends on the presence of Blood; but not the blood of bulls and goats!

- This New Covenant of Grace has been sealed by the sacred and holy Blood of Jesus Christ! And that precious Blood will never lose its power.

in your behalf you should agree with that testimony and confess its blessings over you.
