"The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10

INTRODUCTION

Humans are unable to fully comprehend or control the power of life. It is the driving energy behind all living beings and the natural world, constantly evolving and adapting to new challenges and environments. Despite our limited understanding, we continue to study and explore the mysteries of life to better appreciate its complexity and beauty.

Life in abundance is a state of being where one feels fulfilled and content with their existence. It involves having meaningful relationships, a sense of purpose, good health, and financial stability. It can also mean being joyful, appreciative, and deeply appreciative of the beauty of our surroundings.

Who is the thief? It is anyone or anything that seeks to steal, kill, or destroy. (Satan and his emissaries are part of this category.)

Satan can also steal your peace of mind and sense of purpose, leaving you feeling lost and empty. It is important to remember that the thief's goal is to separate us from God, and we must stay rooted in our faith to prevent this from happening.

The thief can also harm our relationships by stoking animosity between family members. To recognize the thief's strategies in our lives, it is crucial to pray for protection and discernment.

The thief can also use the spirit of fear to rob us of our peace and joy, causing us to doubt God's goodness and faithfulness. However, if we stay rooted in Christ and his word, we can resist the enemy's schemes and experience the abundant life that Jesus promised. On the other hand, Jesus claims that he has come to offer abundant life to those who follow him.

Many spiritual and religious traditions have studied the power of life in abundance. It refers to the idea that life is about survival and thriving and experiencing joy, love, and fulfillment. This power can be accessed through practices such as meditation, prayer, and gratitude, as well as through cultivating positive relationships and engaging in meaningful work. Ultimately, embracing the power of life in abundance can lead to a more vibrant and fulfilling existence.

1. WHAT THE THIEF COMES TO STEAL

The enemy here is Satan and his emissaries, or those that work for him; this includes physical theft, emotional manipulation, or spiritual deception. However, Jesus offers a different way of life—one that is abundant and full of purpose. Through Him, we can experience true joy and fulfillment.

The implication is that the thief, who is the enemy, is very dangerous in such a way that physically when he steals, he sends sickness and illness into your body so that you will be weakened and unable to resist him. However, the thief can also steal our joy and fulfillment by tempting us with worldly pleasures and distracting us from our faith. Therefore, we must remain vigilant and rely on Jesus to protect us from the thief's attacks.

The enemy can, for instance, steal your wealth and money using the spirit of Mammon. As Scripture says, you cannot serve God and serve Mammon.

However, spiritually, he steals your peace, joy, and purpose in life by leading you away from God's plan for you. It is important to stay vigilant and rely on God's strength to overcome the thief's tactics.

Matthew 6:24. "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

Therefore, it is important to prioritize our faith and trust in God over material possessions. By doing so, we can protect ourselves from falling into the trap of the thief's schemes and maintain a strong spiritual foundation. By doing so, we can resist the temptation to steal and live a life of integrity and honesty.

When this spirit is at work, sometimes you work and your money cannot be saved because of unforeseen circumstances such as medical emergencies, natural disasters, or unexpected expenses. However, it is important to continue practicing good financial habits and seeking guidance on how to manage money wisely. In this spirit of Mammon, when at work, all the above-named circumstances become the stumbling blocks in your path.

However, by continuing to prioritize our spiritual growth and values, we can find peace and contentment even in difficult financial situations.

The spirit of Mammon refers to the excessive love of money and material possessions, which can lead to poor financial decisions and greed. It is important to prioritize financial responsibility and avoid letting the spirit of Mammon take control.

When the enemy steals spiritually, it means that there are forces that can negatively impact our spiritual well-being, such as temptation and negativity. Staying grounded in our beliefs and surrounding ourselves with positivity is important to protect our spiritual health.

The enemy can steal spiritually by stopping the way of salvation for anyone who wants or already believes in Jesus. This is why it is crucial to be vigilant and guard our hearts against any form of spiritual attack, whether it comes from external sources or from within ourselves. We must also seek guidance and support from our faith community to strengthen our spiritual resilience.

The sorcerer who wanted to prevent the proconsul from accepting Jesus when Paul was preaching to him in Acts 13:8–12 serves as a reminder that spiritual attacks can come from unexpected sources. It is important to remain steadfast in our faith and rely on the power of prayer to overcome any obstacles.

The enemy has operated through his emissaries to upset and turn people away from their faith in Jesus. We must be vigilant and discerning, recognizing that the devil can disguise himself as an angel of light and deceive even the most faithful. By staying rooted in God's word and seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit, we can protect ourselves from spiritual attacks and continue to grow in our relationship with Christ.

2. WHEN THE ENEMY COMES TO KILL OR DESTROY

Once a believer is reluctant or not aware of the enemy's assault, the enemy's next move is to kill or destroy. This is why it is important to be vigilant and stay rooted in prayer and scripture. Doing so allows us to recognize the enemy's tactics and stand firm in our faith. Additionally, seeking support from fellow believers can provide strength and encouragement during times of spiritual warfare.

A potent illustration of the significance of spiritual vigilance is the demon-possessed man at the tomb in Mark 5. Despite being bound by chains and living among tombs, he recognized Jesus as the Son of God and was freed from his possessions. This story reminds us that even in our darkest moments, we can find hope and deliverance through our faith in Christ.

The Bible gives a powerful example of the battles we may face, but with God's help and the support of our community, we can overcome them. It is important to remember that spiritual warfare is not a one-time event but a continuous battle that requires perseverance and reliance on God.

What other instances in the Bible do you know of the enemy destroying or killing people? One example is Job, who lost his wealth, health, and family due to Satan's attacks.

Another illustration is King Saul, who suffered from an evil spirit and eventually perished in combat with the Philistines.

Another illustration is Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus due to greed. However, it is important to focus not only on the negative examples but also on the many stories of triumph and victory over the enemy in the Bible.

3. JESUS COMES TO SAVE, RESTORE, AND GIVE LIFE ABUNDANTLY.

These stories serve as reminders that despite the presence of evil in the world, there is always hope and redemption through faith in God. Through Jesus, we can overcome our own personal struggles, find the strength to resist temptation and follow a path of righteousness.

He is the ultimate example of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness, and his teachings continue to inspire and guide millions of people around the world today.

Despite these trials, both Job and Saul remained faithful to God and ultimately received His blessings.

Ephesians 6 reminds us that we should put on the full armor of God to stand against the schemes of the devil. This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.

The story of David and Goliath is a prime example of how God can use the weak to defeat the strong. It teaches us that with faith and courage, we can overcome any obstacle in our path. Ultimately, the Bible is a testament to God's love and grace towards humanity, offering hope and redemption to all who seek it.

You cannot be victorious or conquer the enemy if you do not have a strong foundation in your faith. The Bible provides guidance and wisdom for navigating life's challenges and staying true to our beliefs. Jesus is the answer to all our problems, and his teachings serve as a beacon of light in a world full of darkness. By following his example and living a life of love and compassion, we can make a positive impact on those around us and bring about lasting change. Let us strive to be like Jesus in all that we do, spreading his message of hope and salvation to the ends of the earth.
