Summary: How often do people quit just before receiving the answer to a request? How many times have we stopped working for the Lord only to find out that someone else reaped the harvest after us?

We Shall Reap If We Faint Not

By-Evangelist Gary Huckaby D.D.

Text:

Galatians 6:7; "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

-Our Message title is from Verse 9.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

(1) - False Churches Don’t Start From Nothing.

They Take Over when True Christians get weary.

When the true Christians give up on their work, or they become complacent in the work of the Lord. They quit! One by one a Church assembly grows colder and colder, until the work of God among that area is abandoned and the doors of a building built for the Church are closed to it’s intended ministry. Then the unbelieving false cults, or false religionist come in and get for only a small price what God had called His true Church to begin.

I am thinking here of the Baptist Tabernacle in Atlanta Georgia. It once had as it;s Pastor, Len G. Broughton, and it was a thriving work among the people of it’s area for many, many years. I am told that it would seat in the neighborhood of 3,000 people. Then in the 1900’s a change came to the Baptist Tabernacle. The Olympic were coming to the city of Atlanta, and someone bought out the Baptist Tabernacle, and it was then turned into a place where the worlds music was presented. No more preaching of the Gospel, no more souls saved there, no more a work of the Lord.

The world takes over when God’s people give up! The harvest that was to be gathered in is now past, and they are still lost, because God’s people gave up. Don’t give up dear brothers and sisters of Christ, keep on keeping on!

-Don’t give up - for in due season we shall reap!

(2) Many Get Tired Of Being The Only Ones.

Ill. - Man who sold the farm in Georgia.

I am reminded here of a country boy who grew up in the West Central Georgia area. He had grew up from a boy to manhood on his dad and mom’s farm. He left only to return after his parents had died and lived on this farm, letting it grow up in trees. For some thirty five years he got by on the money his parents left, and just stayed around the farm all those years. Then one day, his money almost gone, and worrying that he was going to have to go to work, decided to sell the place. He advertised the place and it was sold for a mere 60,000 dollars. The man who bought the farm, a week later had a timber company come in and cut the trees. In less than three months the sale of the timber had made the buyer back over 100,00 dollars. Had that man not given up, and had he been wise in his living, he would have kept the farm, and still made 40,000 dollars. But he quit because of worry. Worry will make you as tired as anything, maybe even more than anything else.

Ill. - Man who sold his mine in Nevada - Owner discovered silver later! The Comstock Load.

There was a man who once owned a mine in Nevada. He had worked the mine for many years only to eek out a mere existence for himself. One day while at the trading post in town, he ask if anyone knew someone who wanted to buy an old silver mine. The owner assured him that there was always someone who was looking for property to buy. Less than a month passed when someone made this man an offer for his mine. The price that was settled upon was 30,000 dollars. In just two weeks after buying the mine the owner hit the largest silver vein on the planet, and the mine surpassed the price he paid multiplied thousands of times over. It to this day has produced over a million dollars of silver for the owner. The old miner went crazy over his loss of the wealth he had sought for all those years, and was committed to an asylum for the insane. He gave up his hunt for the precious metal only days before the silver was uncovered. He quit just before the harvest!

(3) We Shall Reap

Psalms 126:6-6 ( Don’t get this verse backwards when you GO!)

Ps 126:5-6; "They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Ill. Maxie Bulloch won at 1:00am on Thursday night.

In July of 1976, I had returned from attending the National Sword of The Lord soul winning and revival conference in Atlanta, Georgia. It was on a Thursday night and around eleven thirty at night when I arrived at my home in Woodbury. My brother-in-law had called and told me he wanted to get right with the Lord and wanted to talk. So I left my home after getting the message and drove another fourteen miles to their home to pick him up. We decided to ask him to stay the night at our house so that we could talk and pray without interuption. As we left their home we drove through the city of Manchester Georgia, and turned to go through the downtown section. Passing a series of stores on main street I noticed a light on in the store, and heard the sound of a saw running. We turned around and went back and parked in front of the store and I went in to see who was there. A man was crouched down laying wood tile on a stair way. Hi! Anyone here? I ask. With that the man looked up from his work and stared at me.

While he sat on the steps of the stairway I showed this man the simple plan of salvation and ask him to receive Christ as Saviour. He bowed and prayed with me to know the Lord, and was marvelously saved that late night. He is now a deacon of a local Church and has been for many years.

Had I left and gone straight home this soul would not have been saved that night. The harvest came because the seed had been planted and watered, and the harvest came and was reaped.

Don’t give up, keep on keeping on!

Ill. Jack and Martha Hughes.

After going out on visitation one Saturday morning while I was Pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church, I had almost decided to stop visiting because of the weather. (storms, and heavy rains were falling) I prayed and ask the Lord to let someone be at my last stop. As I knocked at the door I heard someone from inside the trailer say, "Be there in a minute." When the door opened I saw a little skinny man and a trailer cluttered with bags of clothes and trash. I introduced myself, as the Pastor of the Church, and this man told me to come and meet his family. I, behind him crawled over the bags to a back room where three little girls and their mother were. She was cooking a box of Macaroni and Cheese for their dinner. I found out later that this was all of the food that they had for the day’s meals, and they ask me to have dinner with them though it was not much. All five of those dear souls received Christ that day and came to our Church, their lives began to change for the better, and God blessed them as a part of His great family. What if I had stopped just one visit short that day? Thank God He has promised to give a harvest to those who will not faint!

(4) If We Faint Not

Dr. Bob Jones Sr. use to often say; "Women faint at the wrong time. The house is on fire and she faints. Then the water hose has to be turned on her and away from the fire."

How many time do we give up just as God is about to reveal His blessings to us. We quit and leave the harvest for the Lord, because we get tired, both physically, and often spiritually.

We faint because we stop praying for souls. We faint because someone has called us a religious fanatic, or a nut, so we stopped doing what we knew we should be doing. Then we missed the harvest.

Don’t give up! Don’t quit! Don’t let down, work harder, one day you will be glad that you did!

(5) We Shall Reap - How?

1-Don’t Get Weary

-spiritually or physically

Don’t get physically worn out, I find that many are working physically more on hobbies, or gardens than at winning souls. There is not a thing wrong with beautiful flowers or gardens of vegetables, or hobbies, except when they take the place of the work for the Lord.

Some get weary spiritually too. They wrestle in prayer day after day, night after night, until they become so burdened that they are spiritually drained. They quit reading and then praying, and get spiritually tired and quit. Don’t quit! Don’t stop! We shall reap!

2-Be Well Doing. Do good works. Do all for the Lord and His work.

3-Be Patient (in due season).

Patience is a virtue someone has said. But I believe it is the trying of our faith. God allows us to sail through the rough seas of trial to bring us to a patient perfect mature child of God. Don’t get mad when trials and tribulations come. Thank God for them! The bring us to be a mature person in Christ Jesus.

4-We Shall Reap!

This is a promise from God! Shall means it is already taking place at this very moment, If we do the rest of the verse. If we faint not! If we keep on keeping on!

Don’t give up Victory is just around the corner!

Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today? Have you been Born Again? If not, please receive Him as yours right now!

Pray: Lord Jesus come into my heart and life right now. I believe that you died for me, and rose from the dead to save me from my sins. I repent of my sins, and receive your gift of eternal life in Christ. In Jesus Christ I ask this Amen!
