Introduction:

Life is tough…

Everyone is looking for a door of escape. The Boss has been unfair to you. The wife seems unreasonable. The children are intolerable. Your Church is in a mess. Life is tough. You want out...

We want to escape from reality…

Not all doors are wrong doors. I need an out. I go kayaking, walk the beach, or I take a hike. God has given us many talents, the time, and many ways for us to release our anxieties and our tensions.

I write poetry. Play the guitar. Call a friend.

The back door of fantasy looks inviting…

And then there is this harlot… Read Proverbs 7. She is the wrong door of escape. Her world looks so inviting. Everything she says and does is covered with gloss sugar coated paint.

With the harlot there is no history. With the harlot there is little conversation. Just one basic need, to be loved… to escape. To be emotionally and physically cuddled.

The reality of the fantasy…

But the reality of the fantasy is: YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE WRONG DOOR!

The harlot does not love you. Her husband will deplore you. Your life will become endangered. And you have been bitten by the addictions of your lust. You will become the ox to be slaughtered.

Life is tough…

No one is saying that life is easy. Life is tough. You do need a door of escape. And there is a door of escape.

(1 Cor 10:13 KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Jesus is the door of escape.

You need to read the entire chapter of Proverbs seven. Look again at the first four verses.

(Prov 7:1) My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

Escape into the door of reality…

There is “another woman” in this chapter.

Jesus is reality. Notice that the Word of God is to be “Our sister,” and our “Kinswoman.”

There is nothing more real than Jesus. The lost man needs to come to the door of Christ.

For those of us who have been saved, we always have this door of escape. Jesus awaits us. He longs to share our hurts, our pain. He is real.

Instead of using the harlot’s “back door.”

Use the front door… Jesus. He is waiting. Let him hold you in his arms.

Jesus longs to be your door of escape!
