Ingredients For Success

Psalm 146:1-10

Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

3 Put not your trust in princes, [nor] in the son of man, in whom [there is] no help.

4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

5 Happy [is he] that [hath] the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope [is] in the LORD his God:

6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein [is]: which keepeth truth for ever:

7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:

8 The LORD openeth [the eyes of] the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

9 The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

10 The LORD shall reign for ever, [even] thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.

the cartoon were these words: "The ladder is still there!" To climb that ladder however, means sweat and toil.

- Experience tends to make us increasingly careless and less efficient.

- It’s when we examine experience and let it speak to us that we learn from it.

When Longfellow was well along in years, his head as white as snow, but his cheeks as red as a rose, an ardent admirer asked him how it was that he was able to keep so vigorous and write so beautifully. Pointing to a blooming

apple tree nearby, he replied: "That apple tree is very old, but I never saw prettier blossoms upon it than those it now bears. The tree grows a little new wood every year, and I suppose it is out of that new wood that those blossoms come. Like the apple tree, I try to grow a little new wood every year."

And what Longfellow did, we all ought to do.

Peter’s last book, last chapter, last verse.

Note For Us:

This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. But what I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something I have traded for it. I want it to be gain and not lost; good and not evil; success and not failure, in order that I shall not regret the price that I have paid for it.
