Rest Area. (Hix)

Summary: PEOPLE NEED REST, THE ONLY REST THAT ONLY JESUS CAN GIVE, THE ONLY TRUE REST THAT THEY CAN RECEIVE IS FROM HIM! THEY WON’T GET THIS KIND OF REST FROM A DAY OFF FROM WORK, OR FROM A VACATION
Psalm 37:4-7-Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Delight-To find pleasure in serving the Lord!
To find pleasure in worshipping the Lord!
In our society today, you find way to many people who are more interested in what the church or God can do for them, than what they
can do for the church!
Church should never be about me or about you, it should always be about the Lord!
Not saying that we shouldn’t get something out worshipping the Lord or out serving the Lord, because truly we receive a blessing from it, but that should not be our sole purpose!
Because look at the next part of the verse…
And He Shall Give You The Desires Of Your Heart
Whenever we put His desires, His wants before our own, God honors that!
Don’t ever think just because God has not rewarded you for your service, for your dedication, for your obedience, does not mean that there is not a reward waiting for you, or that there is not a reward coming!
I know in my own life, that God has not only supplied my needs, but many times He has given me what my heart was desiring and sometimes gave me better than I was expecting!!
Has that ever happen to you?
Commit Your Way To The LORD
What is lacking in the modern church today is….Commitment!
There is no commitment church attendance! We all get our ox in a ditch sometimes (Meaning we all miss church sometimes) but if your ox is in the ditch more times than it’s out, then you need to get another ox! (In other words, are missing church for legitimate reasons, or are they just excuses for your lack of commitment?)
No commitment to Sunday School….Sunday School is where you learn, where you can ask questions, where you can learn from others, where you can a deeper insight of God’s word!
37 times the word Test is used in the New King James Version.
So if you think you can get up in the morning and not have to face some test the week, this month, this year, then you are sadly mistaken!
So don’t you think it would be important to be in Sunday School to get ready for the test that is coming your way!
Because when God gives a test, and if you fail it, He just enrolls you back into class!
Just asked the children of Israel….40 years of the same test!!
Trust Also In Him
So what was that test for the children of Israel, it is the same test for you and me!
Will we trust Him?
Sunday School, Bible study, fellowship with other Christians helps with that, because we read or hear how God has helped other believers thru some difficult situations!
And hearing these stories or reading these stories and learning more about God, we begin to have the confidence to trust Him, with our lives, with our families, with our careers, with our finances, with every aspect of our lives!!
He Shall Bring It To Pass
Bring what to pass?
To bring His plan to pass!
Doesn’t matter what obstacles are in the way!
Doesn’t matter how many people reject Him or accept Him!
Doesn’t matter how many oppose Him!
Doesn’t matter how many laws are changed to undermine Christianity!
He is plan, His purpose will prevail!!
He Shall Bring Forth Your Righteousness As The Light, And Your Justice As The Noonday.
No one may recognize all the good you are doing, no one may recognize all the things you are accomplishing for the cause of Christ!
You may not even realize it, you maybe asking yourself, “Am I doing any good, am I making any kind of impact at home or at work?”
One day all that good, all that hard work, all those sacrifices will be brought to light!
And it will be worth it all!
Rest In The LORD
MANY PEOPLE IN THIS LIFE NEED REST, THEY NEED REST FROM THE THINGS THAT WEAR THEM DOWN!
PEOPLE ARE TIRED!
TIRED OF BEING BROKE!
TIRED OF BEING ALONE! TIRED OF BEING LONELY!
TIRED OF BEING SICK! TIRED OF BEING HURT!
TIRED OF BEING USED! TIRED OF BEING ABUSED!
TIRED OF BEING ONE DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT!
PEOPLE NEED REST, THE ONLY REST THAT ONLY JESUS CAN GIVE, THE ONLY TRUE REST THAT THEY CAN RECEIVE IS FROM HIM!
