We are abundantly blessed when we know Jesus Christ and find our satisfaction in Him, as revealed through the words of Revelation.

Introduction

Good morning, church family! Today, we are diving into the book of Revelation, specifically focusing on Revelation 1:3. In this verse, we find a promise and a glimpse of the abundant blessings that come from knowing Jesus Christ and being satisfied in Him. The Word of God says,

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." - Revelation 1:3

As we explore this passage today, I want to begin by sharing a quote from John Piper. He once said,

"God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him."

This statement captures the essence of our message today – the marvelous blessing of knowing Jesus Christ and the joy that comes from being satisfied in Him.

Let us open our hearts and minds as we dive into the Word of God and learn more about the blessings that await us when we read and hear the words of Revelation. Let's pray together, shall we?

Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful day and the privilege of gathering together as a church family to study Your Word. As we explore the book of Revelation, we ask that You open our hearts and minds to receive the truth and the blessings that come from knowing Jesus Christ and being satisfied in Him. Fill us with Your wisdom and understanding, and may our lives be a testimony to Your glory. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Blessed is He

This verse presents us with several aspects of the blessing that comes from engaging with the book of Revelation.

First, it is important to note that the blessing is not limited to those who merely read the words of Revelation. The verse also emphasizes the importance of hearing the words and taking them to heart. This suggests that the blessing comes not just from a superficial engagement with the text but from a deep and transformative encounter with the message of Revelation. It is not enough to simply read the words; we must also allow them to penetrate our hearts and minds, shaping our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

Second, the blessing is not only for the individual who reads the words of Revelation but also for those who hear it. This highlights the communal aspect of the Christian faith and the importance of sharing the message of Revelation with others. As we gather together as a church family to study and discuss the Word of God, we are all blessed by the insights and perspectives that each person brings to the table. It is through this collective engagement with the text that we can more fully understand and appreciate the message of Revelation.

Third, the blessing of reading and hearing the words of Revelation is closely tied to the recognition that "the time is near." This phrase serves as a reminder that the events described in Revelation are not distant, abstract concepts but are instead imminent realities that should shape our daily lives. As we read and hear the words of Revelation, we are called to live with a sense of urgency and anticipation, knowing that the return of Jesus Christ is drawing near. This awareness should inspire us to live lives of holiness, service, and devotion to God.

Now, let us consider some practical ways in which we can experience the blessing of reading and hearing the words of Revelation. One way is to engage in regular, personal Bible study. As we set aside time each day to read and meditate on the words of Revelation, we open ourselves up to the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Through this daily discipline, we can grow in our understanding of the message of Revelation and experience the blessing that comes from knowing Jesus Christ more deeply.

Another way to experience the blessing of reading and hearing the words of Revelation is through worship and Bible study. As we gather together as a church family to sing, pray, and study the Word of God, we are able to learn from one another and grow together in our faith. This communal aspect of our faith is essential to our spiritual growth and is a key component of the blessing that comes from engaging with the book of Revelation.

Finally, we can experience the blessing of reading and hearing the words of Revelation by sharing the message with others. As we discuss the truths of Revelation with our friends, family members, and coworkers, we are able to share the hope and encouragement that comes from knowing Jesus Christ. This act of sharing the message of Revelation not only blesses those who hear it but also deepens our own understanding and appreciation of the text.

As we consider the blessing of reading and hearing the words of Revelation, it is important to remember that this blessing is not just a one-time event. Instead, it is an ongoing process that continues to unfold as we engage with the text and allow it to shape our lives. The more we read and hear the words of Revelation, the more we come to understand the depth and beauty of the message and the more we experience the blessing that comes from knowing Jesus Christ.
