James 4:7-8

Submit: A Greek military term meaning "to arrange [troop divisions] in a military fashion under the command of a leader". In non-military use, it was "a voluntary attitude of giving in, cooperating, assuming responsibility, and carrying a burden".

Meaning: To put one’s self in subjection to; to obey.

Also translated into the English word “obedient” in Titus 2:5, 9.

Resist: Meaning: To oppose, set one’s self against, to withstand.

Submit unto God, Resist the devil and he will flee from you. = victory.

Submission to God’s Word, Will and Way.

Resistances to enemy of our eternal life.

Submission by self-shrinking (“I must decrease, that He may increase”).

Submission by learning what is pleasing unto Him: reading, studying, praying.

Submission by subjecting (“Not my will, but Thine”).

Resisting by putting on the whole armor of God:

Ephesians 6:10-18 “10- Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11- Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12- For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13- Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14- Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15- And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16- Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17- And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18- Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Belt of Truth: “loins girt about with truth”: Loins (reproduction) of Truth.

Breastplate of righteousness: Protecting the Heart.

Exodus 28:29 “And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually.”

I Thessalonians 5:8 “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”

Shoes of Peace (War Shoes): “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace”: Sure footed.

Shield of Faith: “Above all, taking the shield of faith”: Because the “just live by faith”.

Helmet of salvation: Protecting the head knowledge of salvation.

Sword of Truth: “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”:
