SUCCESSFUL EVANGELISTIC EVENTS-II—Luke 9:1-6

Jesus set the tone for His apostles’ first evangelistic event.

The apostle’s first evangelistic event was undertaken in a particular spirit.

Successful evangelistic events must be undertaken in a particular tone/spirit.

How can we ensure that evangelistic events are successful/undertaken in the proper spirit?

PROVISION by God’s People(:3)

“And He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; & do not even have two tunics apiece.”

“Take nothing for your journey”—

God’s provision.

—Argumentation:

Acts 2:44-46—“And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions, and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. And day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,”

Acts 4:32-35—“And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own; but all things were common property to them. And with great power the apostles were giving witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all. For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales, and lay them at the apostles’ feet; and they would be distributed to each, as any had need.”

Ezek. 3:17-19, 20-21—“Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman to the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me. “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die’; & you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. “Yet if you have warned the wicked, & he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself.”....“Again, when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness & commits iniquity, & I place an obstacle before him, he shall die; since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, & his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. “However, if you have warned the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, & he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; & you have delivered yourself.”
