(28)

Sermon shared by George Dillahunty

April 2004
Summary: Throughout History ("His Story") people have had thoughts of Almighty God - but Almighty God is asking the question, "What do YOU think of Jesus, the Christ?
Denomination: Church of God
Audience: General adults
Sermon:
I cannot imagine anyone, whether male or female, at some point in their lives, not having thoughts of this man called Jesus of Nazareth! Each and every one of us, through the media, of every desciption, and especially, the preached Word, have heard, at one time or another, about Jesus, the Christ! For two-thousand-plus-years, men and women have been talking about Jesus, the Christ - men and women have been thinking about Jesus, the Christ - wondering, perhaps, who He really is? Many of us, more than likely, have already made up our minds as to who He is - and, my brothers and sisters, there are doubltess many others who have still to make up their minds as to who Jesus is! The question that is posed, still today, after all of that time has past, the question that still remains valid in this global society of ours, today, is this: "What do you think of Jesus, the Christ!"

It certainly is a proper question to pose to my brothers and sisters in Christ! If any one of us were asked to comment upon our favorite prominent public figure - male or female - we would already have a made-up mind - we would already have an opinion - and, we would proceed to speak what we thought! If we were to be asked what we thought of our President, George Walker Bush, we would speak right out and give our opinion of him in a flash - without hesitation! In point of fact, it would not matter who we were asked to comment upon, we would have an opinion and we would freely and boldly voice that opinion! So, the question becomes, "Why donít we do so when we are asked about the most important person ever to live on the face of this Earth, Jesus, the Christ?"

If you think well of Jesus, the Christ, you ought to be able to stand up boldly and declare it! You ought to be able to show that you are a follower of this man called Jesus of Nazareth! In the reverse, if you do not think well of Jesus, the Christ, you ought to be able to stand up boldly and declare that! You see, my Fatherís chldren, if each and every one of us would simply stand up boldly and declare for or against Jesus, the Christ, the life of the Christian true believer would become much easier! You see, what we think of Jesus, the Christ, is of extreme importance; whereas, what we think of rock stars, movie stars, athletes, Presidents, and so forth is of reatively little importance - why? Because what we think of Jesus, the Christ, and only how we respond to the way we think of Him, will determine whether or not we spend Eternity in Heaven or Hell!

Did you notice the question that is being asked? We are not being asked to comment upon the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, we are not being asked to comment upon the Baptist Church, or the Lutheran Church, or the Episcopal Church, or the Prebsyterian Church, or the Charismatic Churches, or the Roman Catholic Church - NO, my brothers and sisters, we are being asked to comment upon Jesus, the Christ! We are not being asked to comment upon this preacher or that preacher, this doctrine or that doctrine, we are simply being asked, "What do we think of Jesus, the Christ?" "What do we think of the one true Living triune God - and this second person of the Godhead, Jesus, the Christ?"

Many questions come to mind when we actually begin to focus our minds upon Jesus, the Christ! Questions such as: "Was Jesus, the Christ, really the only-begotten Son of Almighty
