Summary: A study on our frailty and the fact that we need to rely on God

Thank God I’m Frail!

Lifting weights

Me in high school

Relied on the guy above me

Would you ever try to hire the least qualified?

We don’t look for the weakest person

That’s what’s great about our relationship with God

He sees the potential in people

He looks past our weakness

Story from the OT- Gideon

Background

Read Judges 6:11-18

People in the Bible that God used

Noah, Moses, Saul, David, Nehemiah, Paul, Peter

Have you ever looked at yourself and not seen the potential?

I’m a loser, I’m worthless, I have no talents

This attitude prevents us from being used by God

Here’s Gideon

Do you think he felt qualified to lead?

Do you think that he though he had warrior potential?

God sees potential in everyone!

Read Judges 7:1-18

God helped Gideon pick his 300 men

God was with Gideon every step of the way

The Midianite and Amalekite armies were numberless

How would you feel with those 300 men?

What if God ask you to confront a co-worker or friend?

What if that’s just not your personality?

God may be asking you to lead a small group

He may be leading you to do more ministries

If He is, I promise, He will work through you

We all have gifts, but even in our weakness, God uses us

When He chooses you, He will work through you!

Read Judges 7:19-25

Will you always be successful?

Sometimes we fail because is teaching us to rely on Him

Too many of us try to do it ourselves

2 philosophies:

I think I can

I think I can’t

God isn’t needed in these instances

Power of positive thinking, self-help

If this worked, they wouldn’t be stacked on bookshelves

I know I can’t, but I can through Christ

Allow your weakness to be used by God and you will grow in Him!

You see, God’s power is perfected in our weakness

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

We are all weak

We are all frail

You don’t have to worry about doing life alone anymore

When weak people allow God to use them, God’s power shines
