Introduction:

What is the difference between the insurance and assurance companies. In insurance companies, an insured person can only receive his benefit whenever major injuries happened to him or upon his death.

While in assurance companies, the insured person can enjoy his benefit even if he is strong and still living.

But these companies can only promise us limited benefits for our temporary relief.

The assurance of life that we will discuss today is more than the insurance companies could provide us.

Let’s take a look our text today found in Acts 27:14-26; 33-44 to understand what assurances God has provided to our lives.

Where did Paul get his strength? Our text in verse 25 gives us the reason -"for I have faith in God..."

“Now faith is the ASSURANCE of what we hope for…” (Heb. 11:1)

I. THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PRESENCE

“Last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me...” (v.23)

Paul says in verse 25: "for I have faith in God"•

He knew God was with Him and everything was going to be all right.

II. THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PROMISE

"...Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you. So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me." (Vs.24-25)

Illustration:

A pastor visited an old man who was held fast to his chair by rheumatism, but he had his Bible open in front of Him. The minister notices the word “proven” was printed manually in the margin that the promises of the Lord were written.

III. THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PLAN

"...Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar..." (v.24)

In Acts 27:42-44 "The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent any of them from swimming away and escaping. But the centurion wanted to spare Paul’s life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. The rest were to get there on planks or on pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land in safety."Do you live for His purpose today?

IV. THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S POWER

"...In this way everyone reached land in safety." (v.44b)

Conclusion

Illustration:

During the first part of the construction of Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco USA there is no safety device used. Twenty-five men working fell and died. In the last part of the construction, they put a large net worth $100,000 so that they will be safe. Still many workers fell but they held by the net. They also noticed that 25% more work have been done because of the assurance of safety.

These assurances had helped Paul during the storm’s of life.
