Summary: Joshua lays before the children of Israel the only choice that counts and commends to them by personal example in Joshua 24:14-15.
“The Choice That Counts”
I. It is a POSITIVE choice. (v. 14) Deuteronomy 10:12; 1 Samuel 12:24; Genesis 17:1
A. To do what is RIGHT (v. 14a) “Now therefore fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and in truth” Job 28:28; Proverbs 9:10; Psalm 111:10; Psalm 130:4; Acts 9:31; Matthew 4:10
B. To REJECT what is wrong. (v. 14b) put away the gods Job 1:1; Joshua 24:23; Genesis 35:2; Exodus 20:3-4; Ezekiel 20:18
II. It is a PRESSING choice. (v. 15a) Ruth 1:15-16; 1 Kings 8:21; Ezekiel 20:39
A. It demands immediate ATTENTION This day 2 Corinthians 6:1-2; Isaiah 55:6; Psalm 95:7
B. It demands immediate ACTION Choose Matthew 11:28; Romans 10:13; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Luke 19:10; John 15:16; Matthew 7:7-8
III. It is a PERSONAL choice. (v. 15b) Genesis 18:19; Matthew 6:24; Jeremiah 29:13; Hebrews 2:3; 3:13; Psalm 145:18; James 4:8
A. It’s an INDIVIDUAL choice. As for me Joel 2:32; John 6:68; Deuteronomy 30:19; Psalm 119:30; Matthew 12:30; Revelation 3:15; 2 Corinthians 5:20; Psalm 34:18
B. It will IMPACT the whole family. My house Psalm 101:2; Ruth 2:11-12; Acts 16:31; Luke 9:23; 14:26-27; Acts 18:8
