Summary: WE CANNOT SURVIVE AS CHRISTIANS OUTSIDE THE GLORY OF GOD.

THEME: EXCEEDING GLORY

TOPIC: THE GLORY OF GOD

MAIN TEXT: EXODUS 24:12-18

(a) Introduction: Welcome to this series and year of exceeding glory. The aim of this teaching

is in two folds (a) To understand the glory of God and (b) To manifest the Glory of God.

(b) The glory of God defined: Exodus 24:12-18, Isaiah 40:5, Psalm 49:12

Glory focuses on the manifestation of God’s character and his worth and his attribute,

No man can rightly define glory, any more than he can define God. Glory is the fullness of God. When God gives His glory He gives Himself. This glory can be called kabhod (Hebrew) or Doxa (Greek)

(c) The tabernacles and the Glory of God: Exo. 40:34-35, 2Chron. 7:1-3, Exo.13:21-22,

Num. 9:15-23, 2Sam 6:2, Lev.16:2. When the glory of God came down and filled the tabernacle for the first time it must have been an awesome spectacle to behold. The meaning of the dwelling or presence of God is the Hebrew word Sh’cheenah or Shekinah. The term Shekinah was many times used interchangeably with the word God-which means that He “dwelt in” or “rested upon” those who merited His favour.

Remember, everything was a finger pointing to the Messiah the tabernacle as a type, would point to the character and the ministry of Christ.

We are now the temple of God- “know ye not that you are the temple (Mishkan) of God? we are the body of Christ and we have the Glory within us. 1Cor. 3:16, 1Cor.6:19.

(d) The manifestation of glory

1. Abundance, wealth and treasure: Psalm 49:12, Matt 4:8, Rev. 21:24; 26, Gen.31:1

2. Honour and dignity: 1Kings 3:12, Hebrew 2:7, 1Peter1:24

3. Splendour and brightness and majesty: Gen.45:13, Isa.4:5, Acts 22:11, 2 Cor. 3:7

4. The bliss of Heaven: Romans 2:7, Romans 2:10, Heb. 2:10, 1Peter 5:1, 1peter 5:10

5. Jesus is the brightness of the Father’s Glory: Hebrew 1:3, John 1:14, John 2:11

(e) The promise and fulfilment of the Glory to us Hebrew 10:20, John1:14, Colossian

2:17, Luke 1:35, 2Cornithian 4:6, Colossians 2:9, 2Cornithian 3:18.

Conclusion: Jeremiah 31:31-33. The temple veil that covered the Holy of Holies was divided

asunder to tell us that now the Shekinah Glory rests and dwells in God’s people. When you become born again, you are now the temple (Mishkan) of the Lord
