Summary: Paul now commends the Thessalonians for not only Hearing the Gospel, but also Heeding it and now commends them for Heralding the Gospel to a lost and dying world.

I. The Thessalonians HEARD the Scriptures (vv. 1-5).
A. The GREETING of the THESSALONIANS (v.1)

II. The Thessalonians HEEDED the Scriptures. (v. 6)
A. The GRACE that TRANSFORMED the Thessalonians in their obedience. (v. 6)

A. The GOOD-NEWS of their TRANSMISSION (vv. 7-9) Isaiah 52:7 cf. Romans 10:15
1. They were EXAMPLES to all (v. 7) Philippians 3:17; 1 Timothy 1:16; 4:12; 1 Peter 2:21; 1 Corinthians 10:6
2. They EVANGELIZED the people. (vv. 8-9)
i. Their witness was VOCAL. (v. 8a) sounded forth, proclaim Romans 10:18; Psalm 40:10; Acts 18:9
ii. Their witness was VERBAL. (v. 8b) Word of the LORD 2 Thessalonians 3:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:5; Matthew 10:18-20
iii. Their witness was to a VAST audience. (v. 8c) spread abroad, in every place Acts 1:8; Matthew 24:14; Romans 1:8; 16:19; 2 Corinthians 3:2
iv. Their witness was VICARIOUS. (v. 8d) we need not say anything 2 Corinthians 5:21; Matthew 5:16; James 2:26; Matthew 7:15, 17-20
v. Their witness was VISUAL. (v. 9) ensamples…turning to God from idols to serve the living and True God Acts 14:15; 26:17-18; 2 Corinthians 6:16; 1 Timothy 4:10; Ruth 2:11-12; 2 Kings 5:17; 1 Timothy 6:17
