Summary: This is an experience that if we do this, He says we would be blessed... I for one do not want to miss out on any blessing the word of God tells me that I can receive.

Lord’s Supper

I. An act of Surrender (23) For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; (24) and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me." (25) In the same way He took the cup also, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant inMy blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

A. Obedience is primary in our relationship with our heavenly Father.

B. Obedience always brings about promise.

II. An act of Rememberance (24) and (25) You can forget Judges 2:10 Heb.10:32

A. Until now the observation of the "Passover Supper", was done in remembrance of what God did to deliver Israel from the captivity of Egypt.

B. They would take a little lamb without blemish and cut its throat "Peace Offering" were not consumed by fire and were therefore for the consumption of the Priest and the people.

Jesus was saying that their receiving of these portions were symbolic of their participation in His death.

They were now to remember His death as deliverance from eternal captivity to eternal life. Is.53:3-5

You cannot continue in sin for the Apostle finishes with a warning… 1Cor.11:27-29 this is why we must continue on in our salvation… from re birth to perfection… Heb.6:1

Be ye perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect. Mt.5:48

( IICor. 13:5 Examine) In Rev. 2-3 we find Jesus speaking to the 7 churches of Asia minor, why only 7? There were many churches not just 7. But every church is in one of the 7 categories.

OF the 7 only 2 had a right standing with God, but 5 were fooling themselves, thinking they can get away with sin…

But all had one thing in common, “ I Know Your Works” he knows and we can be found just as guilty as those who crucified Him…

LET US KNOW WHERE WE STAND WITH GOD TODAY…. ALTER

Feet Washing

Jn.13:1-2 Jesus knowing that His time is short, that a cruel cross is ahead of Him, He also knows that His disciples, one is going to betray Him, one is going to deny Him, and they all are going to desert Him! And yet He still loves them!

Verse 3-Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God

Critical messages – often last minute orders

Jesus’ comfort was that He came from God and that He was going back to God!

That’s what got Him thru the pain, that’s what got Him thru the insults, that’s what got Him thru the death on the cross!

Do you know what will get you thru difficult days, thru hard times, thru pain and suffering? Knowing that you are God’s and one day you are going to be with Him forever!!

Verse 4-5- The One who should have been served, is serving

Hosts would provide a basin and water at the door. As guests arrived, they would remove their sandals and wash their feet if necessary.

Hosts might provide women, children, and Gentile slaves to wash the feet of others.

It was too degrading for a Jewish man to do this.

The water and the laver had been provided Any of them could have washed their own feet, but none did!

Verse 6-8-Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

Peter said to Him, “You shall not wash my feet!” Trying to command God Almighty

For His name is Emanuel- God with us!!

Many today take this approach

But as Prov. 3:5 states, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not into your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path"

Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

The first thing you have to learn if want to be a disciple of Christ is…Obedience

His ways are truly much higher than our ways that his thoughts are much deeper than ours.

Verse 9-Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

Peter completely surrenders. Thats an attitude God can use!

If Jesus was willing to humble Himself to die on cross for our sins, what are we willing to do for Him?

Verse 10-11-Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”
