The Mystery Of The Incarnation

Introduction: Nothing rivals the incarnation in relation to its grandeur and awesomeness. By the incarnation, we mean God coming in the flesh to rescue us. The following chapters/verses gives us clear pictures of this awe-inspiring act of God; Heb. 10:5-7, Jhn. 1:14 and i Tim. 3:16. The words of the immediate text says; "A body hast Thou prepared for Me." In these words, we find several things: the prepared (Body), the preparer (Thou)and the prepared for (Me). The text clearly reveals that the Son existed before His body was prepared. In other words, The Son of God is older than His body. The descript, the Son of Man is compatible to His physical existence. Now note that the body of Christ did not originate with Mary or Joseph but with God. The incarnation is a miracle beyond description. It is a display of the greatest love story ever told. It is God making a body (vehicle) to visit and rescue lost humanity. The word prepare as used in the text, means, perfectly made or made perfect. There was no blemish in the body of Christ. Chris’s body was without the poison of natural birth. His, was the only body to lie in a grave without decadence or corruption.

I. LET US SEE HOW HE CAME.

There are several ways, He could’ve come.

A. Without man or woman. (Adam)

B. With man and without woman, (Eve)

C. With man and woman. (Us)

D. With woman and without man. (Jesus)

God chose a unique way to bring His Son into the human realm. The birth of Christ was like no other. Incarnation not only redeemed man; it also revealed God.

In the natural birth, we oberve the following:

The Father begets.

The Woman brings forth.

God gives the spirit.

The soul emerges.

In Christ’s birth, we observe a higher order:

The Father begets.

The Son is given.

The virgin conceives.

The Word become flesh.

II. WE SHALL LOOK AT THE BODY IN WHICH HE CAME.

A. It was PREEMINENT.

B. It was PROPHESIED.

C. It was PREPARED.

D. It was PERMANENT.

E. It was PERFECT.

F. It was POWERFUL.

G. It was PRAISE-WORTHY.

III. WE SHALL LOOK AT WHY HE CAME.

A. He came to SEEK.

B. He came to SAVE.

C. He came to SERVE.

D. He came to SLAY.

E. He came to SETTLE.

F. He came to SANCTIFY.

G. He came to SET-UP.

IV. WE SHALL LOOK AT HOW HE LEFT.

A. He left as CONQUEROR.

B. He left CONVINCINGLY.

C. He left as the CAPTAIN.

D. He left CLOUD-BORNE.

E. He left CONSPICUOSLY.

F. He left CROWNED.

G. He left CHRIST.

Conclusion: Jesus left Christ in the earth realm. Thanks, be unto God; we have an ordinance to commemorate His body. Oh that men would be grateful for the unconditional love of God.
