The Reward for a Christian Father
(10)
Sermon shared by Capitan Gerardo Balmori

Summary: Today’s world don’t make it easy to be a Godly Dad. We often make the assumption that Dads
really need to be thrashed about the head and neck for failing to live up to God’s standards – and
then wonder why they don’t come to church. Men I have the inspi

blessing of God today. Often they are marked with bitterness – confusion – and apathy. The truth
is that we as men have the power to transform our marriages and our children by the choices that
we make. The Scripture again says that if we fear God and walk in His ways that our homes will be
full of His blessing.
3) You have the power to transform the world around you – Psalm
128 talks about the prosperity of the nation of Israel. You – men – have the power to make our
community and our nation strong and prosperous – or weak and failing. It depends on where you
place your focus – where you spend your time – what you teach your children. Are you teaching
your children how to have a happy home – a lifelong marriage – and success in life? Are you
preparing the next generation to be a Godly generation? Your teaching will be the lifes blood of the
next generation of Political leaders, journalists, teachers, preachers, and laborers. The values that
you instill will be the values of those who rule when you are old. What legacy are you leaving our
world our nation and our community? The scripture tells us that we can transform the world if we
fear God and walk in His ways.
Conclusion: Men I have told you that you hold the power to transform your own happiness,
your marriage and family, and the nation around you. I believe that with all my heart. Now let me
share with you the two keys to getting it right.
1) Fear the Lord – Understand that this does not mean to be afraid of God. It means to
respect Him – to understand who is in charge. When I was growing up – and in fact still today – I
fear my father. I have never been afraid of my father – he has never given me reason to be afraid of
him. But I fear him in that I honor and respect him. When I was growing up – when my dad spoke
we listened. There was no bartering whining complaining or throwing temper tantrums to get our
own way. There was also no ignoring him and doing as we pleased. When Dad spoke we listened.
That needs to be true for us men. If you want to be happy, if you want your home to be happy, if
you want your nation to be happy – listen to God. Do it His way not your way. Understand that He
is in control – He is the boss – He is the creator – and He has the power. The more you love Him,
the more you fear Him – the more you will find what you have been searching for all this time.
Happiness.
2) Walk in His ways – the truth that will never fail us is this “In that which I am
obedient I am blessed, in that which I am disobedient I am disciplined.” It is an unfailing truth of
life. God tells us how to be happy, he tells us how to treat our wives and children, he tells us how to
shape our nation – how obedient are we to His call to us? The scriptures assure us that if we follow
the Lord – He will make our paths straight. No one said it was going to be easy to do just that you
will be blessed if you do it.
Men you face challenges in life daily – difficulty in you work, at home, and even at play. But some
things in life are worth the fight. They are worth the work – God promises that if we fear Him and
