Text: Mark 1:1-3 (King James Version)

"The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; (vs. 2) As it is written in the prophets, íBehold I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. (vs. 3) The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.í"

Topic: The Second Person Of The Godhead!

Someone, surnamed Vance, once said, "Is not this the carpenter?" As though no words of wisdom or works of power could come from a carpenter! If Jesus had been a rabbi, in a scholarís robe, it would have been another thing. Yes: and what another thing for us and for all the worldís workers! Celsus sneered at the carpenter, and said that word proved he was an imposter. How could God so demean Himself? But the world has left Celsus behind, along with the critics of Nazareth, and blessed God for the gentleness and comfort, the sympathy and hope, which were given to us by the hands of the Carpenter.

The Second Person of the Godhead, Jesus, the Christ, the only-begotten Son of Almighty God, has many titles in the Holy Scriptures (or, Holy Bible) - titles which help us to get a grasp on what they say about Him and how a definition of who He is applies to our lives. This morning, my brothers and sisters, the Lord would have us to look at the title "Son of God."

The beloved Disciple/Apostle John, in 1 John 4:15 (KJV), tells us: "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him and he in God."
John, as "John the Revelator," goes on to record the words of Jesus, the Christ, Himself, in Revelation 2:18 (KJV): "And unto the angel of the church at Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath His eyes like unto a flame of fire, and His feet are like fine brass."

This prominent title - "Son of God" - given to Jesus, the Christ, as we can see, is of the utmost importance to us; if, we are going to truly understand who He is - if, we are going to relate to Him in the best possible way. From that title - "Son of God" - there are several things that we can conclude concerning who Jesus, the Christ, is! Letís examine four (4) of them, this morning, shall we?

1. Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, is the promised Messiah that we all have been waiting for!

The nation of Israel had yearned for their Messiah for a very long time! Almighty God had promised them that He would send them a Saviour who could heal their diseases - who could take away their sin - and, who could make them whole again!

I do not believe that the majority of the Israelites, however, really and truly understood the full effect or result of what Almighty God had promised them. You see, my brothers and sisters, the Messiah that Almighty God would send WAS, IS, and ALWAYS WILL BE, Almighty God Himself. The "Son of God" is
