Summary: You can't hide things from a God who is Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent!

“A Secret Place” Psalm 139

Introduction

Life is precious and God is in control of our lives, even from the womb. He knows all about us and He loves us.

1. The PRESENCE of God - vv.7-12

a. Love - Rest assured you can’t get away from God as He is omnipresent. You also can’t get away from His love. The Apostle Paul understood this in Romans 8: 35-38...”Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword?….For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

B. Hiding - You can’t hide from Him in your sins. The Bible says that even the hairs of our head are numbered…Matthew 10:30. Got any secrets? ….I don’t think so….including what goes on in “secret aces.”

2. The PERSON of Man - Psalm 8:4-5 “What is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.”

a. “Person” defined by Webster….a man, woman, or child, regarded as having a distinct individuality or personality, or as distinguished from an animal or thing. In our present society we have devalued life to the point that I think we treat animals better than people. Especially in light of the fact that we allow children to be yanked from “the secret place” before they even have a chance to be born.

b. Value of Man - Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee: and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” What this world needs is a good dose of self esteem. We’re important to God. We’re worth something. We need to carry this message to forlorn adults and abused children who’ve never been told that they are loved. Hard to love someone else until you love yourself. God paid a tremendous price for us by sacrificing His son on the cross that we could be saved and have eternal life.

3. PURPOSE Of God in Our Lives - vv. 13-16

A. God has a PLAN for our lives, not just preachers , but everyone. We need to be seeking that plan and until we find it we need to 1. Love 2. Obey and 3. Serve the very best we can.

B. You and I are worth a lot to God. V. 14 “I will praise thee: for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” marvelous are thy works: and that my soul knoweth right well.”

C. What is the “secret place”? v. 15 speaks of “the lowest parts of the earth.” I’m convinced that the Psalmist is speaking of the WOMB.

Before the body was formed David says he was a person. In fact I believe that God had a blueprint of us before we were even conceived.

Let’s just tell it like it is…..abortion is MURDER unless it is performed to save the life of a mother.

Conclusion and Application

So what’s this got to do with me Bro. Monte? I’m a “born-again” Christian. A recent Barna report claimed “among born again Christians, 27% are currently or have previously been divorced, compared to 24% among adults who aren’t born-again. Planned Parenthood’s Alan Guttmacher Institute reports that one in five women having abortions is a professing born-again or evangelical Christian.

We believers are into everything that the world is. What can we do?

1. Make sure you’re a Christian. 2. Do SOMETHING for young girls who’ve made a mistake……not condoning the sin, but showing the love of Jesus. 3. Stand up and tell the world that you value life and you’re not going to be quiet about it any longer. Be willing to go to jail for non-violent opposition.

The “Secret Place”? ….. there really isn’t any is there. God help us to love even as you loved us.
