The Thief

INTRODUCTION: John 10:10 ~ The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I

(Jesus) have come that they (you) may have life, and have it to the full. (KJV-

more abundantly)

Any time there is a war... a battle... a football game... there are two sides

~ the one side to the other is the enemy / opposition,

whether it is a war... a battle... a football game

The Best Way to go up against the opposition, is to know them!

One of the The Best Ways to go up against satan is to know him... know his

characteristics... know his strengths... know his weaknesses...

The other way is to know that we have the Victory through the blood of Jesus...

to know that we are Victors in Him through the Work of the Cross

I. THE THIEF

Who is satan? How is he described in the Bible? ~ Let’s Look!

Isaiah 14:12 ~ How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut

down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

John 10:10 ~ The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come

that they (you) may have life, and have it to the full. (KJV- more abundantly)

Luke 10:18 ~ And He said unto them, I beheld satan as lightning fall from heaven.

II Corinthians 11:14 ~ And no marvel; for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

II. HIS PURPOSE

satan has his own agenda ~ anything against God’s Will... God’s Way...

I Peter 5:8 ~ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,

walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

**He has had access to the throne of God, but again with his own agenda

Job 1:6 ~ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the

LORD, and Satan came also among them.

II Timothy 2:26 ~ And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are

taken captive by him at his will.

III. OUR VICTOR / OUR VICTORY

~ I Corinthians 15:54-58 ~

James 4:7 ~ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from

you.

I John 5:4 ~ For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory

that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Ephesians 6:10-13 ~ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s

schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,

against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual

forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so

that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground, and after you

have done everything to stand.

CONCLUSION: Our Objective, as Christians, to grow in our relationship with God. It is

all possible thru the Working of the Cross. We Need to Grow in all areas of our

Christian Walk. To Grow, we know get to know God personally and know God

better ~ We do this through many different ways

We Need to know about satan, BUT not spending Much time about him

~ just knowing what we NEED to KNOW!!

Do we Have Life to the FULL / More Abundantly?! This is the reason - the verse

says - WHY Jesus came!

So many times we try to get Life to the FULL / MORE Abundantly, through our own

ways... our own works... our own ideas...

BUT the only Way is through Christ!! and the Cross!!
