Summary: The truth from mans perspective can be a varied thing! But from Gods perspective there is no shadow of turning.

THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE

The truth from mans perspective can be a varied thing! But from Gods perspective there is no shadow of turning.

Story:

Most of us can sympathize with the fellow who received a call from his wife just as she was about to fly home from Europe. “How’s my cat?” she asked.

“Dead.”

“Oh, honey, don’t be so honest. Why didn’t you break the news to me slowly? You’ve ruined my trip.”

“What do you mean?”

“You could have told me he was on the roof. And when I called you from Paris, you could have told me he was acting sluggish. Then when I called from London, you could have said he was sick, and when I called you from New York, you could have said he was at the vet. Then, when I arrived home, you could have said he was dead.”

The husband had never been exposed to such protocol but was willing to learn. “OK,” he said. “I’ll do better next time.”

“By the way,” she asked, “how’s Mom?”

There was a long silence, then he replied, “Uh, she’s on the roof.”

Man has always asked, What is truth?

In fact the next Scripture illustrates this:

John 18:37-38 Pilate replied, “You are a king then?” “You say that I am a king, and you are right,” Jesus said. “I was born for that purpose. And I came to bring truth to the world. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.” 38 “What is truth?” Pilate asked. Then he went out again to the people and told them, “He is not guilty of any crime.

This is one of the most profound questions ever asked! …. What is truth?

I want to ask you tonight What is truth to you?

Is it what the Doctor told you?

Is the truth what your family have told you?

Is the truth what you have read in books?

This is a question we must all face. How can I know the truth?

The fact is the only one we can trust is God!

Romans 3:3-4 True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they broke their promises, does that mean God will break his promises? 4 Of course not! Though everyone else in the world is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say, “He will be proved right in what he says, and he will win his case in court.”

Acts Chapter 3 contains the story of a man who discovered and revealed the truth.

The truth is: There was a man unable to walk… carried in to the temple to beg.

Peter and John were going to the temple to worship

The man was exposed to the truth…….Jesus…. and was totally healed.

Once healed he had to decide where will I walk…..Acts 3:19 Repent………

Psalm 119:142 Your justice is eternal, and your law is perfectly true.

Psalm 119:151 But you are near, O LORD, and all your commands are true.

Psalm 119:160 All your words are true; all your just laws will stand forever.

On the basis that God is true and every man is a lair, What is truth?

John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

‘The truth shall set you free” Jesus is the truth…. Who will set you free tonight? Jesus!

Tonight I want you to consider the truth… His name is Jesus! Jesus did not say that He would show you the truth.. He said I am the truth… The fact of the matter is Jesus is truth personified.

Experiment:

Everyone put your hand out. Imagine with me that you have a lemon in your hand. Feel how cold it is since you just took it out of the refrigerator. Feel the two knobs on the ends? Ok, now take a knife and cut the lemon in half. Careful! Don’t cut yourself. Oh, look at the juice run down over the sides. Now, put one half down and just hold the other half of the lemon. Now, look at the inside of the cut lemon. Lean down and smell the lemon. Get a good full sense of the lemon fresh scent of the just cut lemon. Ok, now squeeze the lemon. See the juice ooze up and cover the surface of the cut lemon? Now - lick the lemon. That’s right! Lick the lemon. Ok, who feels like you have more saliva than you did a minute a go? How can that be? It was only pretend! The reason is because your body reacts to that which your mind

Thinks about.... (Thanks to Mike Hiehle)

You see you can’t trust your mind to tell you the truth…. We have to trust in the truth.
