The "chosen people" of Almighty God paid a tremendous price to reach their "Promised Land" - the land of their dreams; a price they are still paying, but what did they find there? They found giants - why? Because giants always get there first, taking what they want, and the "Land of Milk and Honey" was no exception! In Numbers 13:33 (KJV), we are told: "And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."

Twelve (12) men, or spies, had been sent out, by Moses, at the request of Almighty God, to conduct a reconnaisance (or, recon) of the area. After a forty (40) day recon patrol, they came back with a frightful majority report - "There Are Giants In The Land" - however, although our first inclination is to accept their report of "doom and gloom", Almighty God would not have us to do so! He expects just a little bit more out of us! So it was with two (2) men called Joshua (also known as Oshea) and Caleb. They were the spies who gave the minority report! Caleb told the people: "Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it." It’s in the Book, you can find it in Numbers 13:30 (KJV)!

In Numbers 14:7-9 (KJV), we find both men, Joshua and Caleb, exhorting the people: "The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. (vs. 8) If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us: a land which floweth with milk and honey. (vs. 9) Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land, for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not."

Listen to the Word of Almighty God, found in Deuteronomy 9:1-3 (KJV): "Hear, O Israel, thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven. (vs. 2) A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, who can stand before the children of Anak! (vs. 3) Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is He which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire He shall destroy them, and He shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee."

The Israelites chose to accept the majority report! And, my brothers and sisters, their disobedience to Almighty God caused them to wander in the desert for forty (4) more years! The entire generation who accepted the majority report all died in that nomadic desert existence, except for Joshua and Caleb - they, because they listened to Almighty God, entered into "The Promised Land"! Tell me, whose report are you believing?

NO, NO, NO, my brothers and sisters, the Anakim cannot be found in our city directories, or our telephone books, or our computer hard drives, or our hand-held "palm devices" - nevertheless, "There Are Giants In The Land", for in this global society of ours they can be found under a different name: Some of these giants are called fear - some of these giants are called discouragement - loneliness - worry - and guilt! Some of these giants are called temptation - anger - doubt - and resentment! Some of these giants are called procrastination - failure - and, jealousy! But, whatever they are called,
