Text: Deuteronomy 31:6-8 (King James Version)

"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (vs. 7) And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, ’Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it. (vs. 8) And the Lord, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: Fear not, neither be dismayed.’"

Topic: Things That Almighty God Cannot Do - From Both Testaments - The Old And The New - Part Two!

Once again, we return to the Holy Scriptures for our text - a text that shows Moses engaged in one of his final duties - instructing the Israelites and his chosen successor, Joshua, just prior to Almighty God’s "Change-of-Command Ceremony"! The old adage, "Almighty God Can Do Anything But Fail," comes out of these passages of Holy Writ! Yet, in order for Almighty God to be "Fail-proof", there are some things that Almighty God cannot do! It is because Almighty God cannot do these things that we "can do all things through Christ" who gives us the power; for, in Matthew 28:18 (KJV), we find Jesus, the Christ, saying: "...All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth." So, my brothers and sisters, let’s look once again at some things that Almighty God cannot do from both Testaments - the Old and the New - shall we?

1. Almighty God Cannot Stand Sin!

The Prophet Isaiah, in Isaiah 59:2 (NLT), tells us: "But there is a problem - your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, He has turned away and will not listen anymore." Notice, my brothers and sisters, that the Word of Almighty God did not say that God "went away" - it says He "turned away"!

2. Almighty God Cannot Forget About Us!

The Prophet Isaiah, in Isaiah 40:15 (NLT), records Almighty God saying: "Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she find no love for a child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!"

3. Almighty God Cannot Be Shut Out Of Anyplace Or Anywhere!

The psalmist, David, in Psalm 139:7-10 (NLT), tells us: "I can never escape from Your Spirit! I can never get away from Your presence! (vs. 8) If I go up to Heaven, you are there; If I go down to the place of the dead, you are there. (vs. 9) If I ride the wings of the morning, If I dwell by the farthest oceans. (vs. 10) Even there, Your hand will guide me, and Your strength will support me."

4. Almighty God Cannot Be Given A Job That He Cannot Handle!

The "Weeping Prophet", Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 32:17 (NLT), tells us: "O sovereign Lord! You have made the heavens and earth by Your great power. Nothing is too hard for You!"

5. Almighty God Cannot Get Weary!

The prophet Isaiah, in Isaiah 40:28 (NLT), tells us: "Have you never heard or understood? Don’t you know that the Lord is the Everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding."
