TINY HAND PRINTS ON A HIGH CEILING

PROVERBS 3:5-6

5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

SOMETIME AROUND THE YEAR 1774 A MAN BY THE NAME OF WILLIAM COWPER WROTE THESE WORDS:

God moves in a mysterious way

His wonders to perform;

He plants His footsteps in the sea

And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines

Of never failing skill

He treasures up His bright designs

And works His sovereign will.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;

The clouds ye so much dread

Are big with mercy and shall break

In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,

But trust Him for His grace;

Behind a frowning providence

He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,

Unfolding every hour;

The bud may have a bitter taste,

But sweet will be the flower.

Blind unbelief is sure to err

And scan His work in vain;

God is His own interpreter,

And He will make it plain.

IT HAS BEEN RECORDED THAT HE WROTE THIS AT THE DARKEST HOUR OF HIS LIFE:

Cowper often struggled with depression and doubt. One night he decided to commit suicide by drowning himself. He called a cab and told the driver to take him to the Thames River. However, thick fog came down and prevented them from finding the river (another version of the story has the driver getting lost deliberately). After driving around lost for a while, the cabby finally stopped and let Cowper out. To Cowper’s surprise, he found himself on his own doorstep: God had sent the fog to keep him from killing himself. 1. TINY HAND PRINTS ON A HIGH CEILING,,,,

IN MY STUDY IS A BED. I OFTEN DO THREE THINGS WHEN SEEKING GOD FOR THE MESSAGE . I PRAY. I READ THE BIBLE AND THEN I LIE BACK ON THE BED AND TRY TO HEAR FROM GOD.

MANY TIMES I WILL LOOK AT THE CEILING AS I WAIT ON GOD TO PUT SOMETHING IN MY MIND.

FRIDAY NIGHT AS SOON AS I LAID BACK AND CAST MY EYES UPARD I NOTICED SOMETHING DIRECTLY ABOVE THE BED…. A TINY HANDPRINT…….I HAD NEVER NOTICED IT BEFORE…FOUR YEARS IN THAT ROOM, LOOKING AT THAT CEILING NEVER NOTICING IT BEFORE….

AT FIRST I WAS JUST SUPRISED, THEN I REALIZED ,,,,THAT TINY HANDPRINT ON THAT HIGH CEILING WAS THE MESSAGE .. I LOVE IT WHEN GOD DOES THIS,,,,,SOMETIME IN THE PAST ,,,SOME CHILD THAT I WILL NEVER KNOW WHOM,,,,HAD PREPARED A MESSAGE FROM THE THRONE ROOM OF GOD,,,,BY PLACING ITS HAND UOPN THAT CEILING…

1. THE HAND PRINT WAS TINY:

THAT OF A VERY YOUNG, VERY SMALL CHILD.

BUT IT WAS AND IS THE VOICE OF GOD.

1ST KINGS 19:11-13 11And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

12And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

13And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

ONE THING WE NEED TO DO IS OPEN OUR SELVES UP TO THE HOLY SPIRIT,,,GOD DON’T ALWAYS SHOW UP AS WE THINK HE SHOULD APPEAR….IT MAY BE IN A FOG TO SAVE A LIFE,,,IT MAY BE IN SONG HE GIVES YOU THAT NO ONE ELSE WILL EVER HEAR,,,IT MAY BE IN THE SOLITUDE OF THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT…OR MAYBE THE HAND PRINT OF A BABY ON A CEILING,,,,,BUT ONE THING FOR SURE THE VOICE OF GOD THE FATHER, JESUS THE SON AND THE HOLY GHOST IS TRYING TO MINISTER TO EACH ONE OF US AS STRONG AS EVER.

DON’T DENY THE STILL SMALL VOICE….

2. THE TINY HANDPRINTER,,,,ON THAT HIGH CEILING HAD REACHED FOR HIM OR HER AN IMPOSSIBLE HEIGHT….

BY THE SIZE OF IT,,,THEY WERE TOO SMALL TO CARRY A LADDER,,,,,TOO SMALL TO STACK FURNITURE,,,,TOO SMALL TO HAVE JUMPED THAT HIGH……THEY MUST HAVE SOUGHT HELP.

WITHOUT HELP IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE,,,THEY MAY HAVE ASK THEIR DAD,,,THEIR MOM,,,AN OLDER SIBLING,,,BUT WITHOUT HELP IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE…BUT LEAVING THEIR HANDPRINT ON THAT CEILING WAS THEIR DESIRE,,,

SO THEY ASK FOR HELP…..

TODAY YOUR DESIRE , THE PLACE YOU WANT TO LEAVE YOUR HANDPRINT MAY LOOK IMPOSSIBLE,,,,WE MAKE THINK WE ARE TOO SMALL TO EVER MAKE IT HAPPEN . AND MATTER OF FACT WE PROBABLY ARE ,,JUST LIKE THAT CHILD,,,,BUT WE HAVE LORD AND SAVIOUR ,,,WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE WITH THE FATHER,,,WE HAVE ONE WHO WILL NEVER LEAVE US OR FORSAKE US,,,,WE HAVE A ONE WHO WILL LIFT US UP TO THE HEIGHT OF THE CIRCUMSTANCE AND HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST,,,,,MATHEW 19:26 26But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
