Summary: Are we really seeking God's truth or defending our theologies and traditions?

The irony is that the most avid defenders of His sovereignty deny Him the right to create a plan of salvation that allows man free will to accept or reject His plan thus opposing His sovereignty. The most avid defenders of free will deny God the right to keep that which He saved until the end based on His work, not the works of man thus also opposing His sovereignty.

We need to allow dead theologians to stay dead and be better biblicists today. Indeed, we need to keep it simple. Theologians tend to muck things up. Jesus came to give the common man understanding after the very deep in theology Pharisees and Sadducees mucked it all up. Then we had a long period of theologians coming up with Inquisitions that were not called for from Scripture, but from bad theology. Even the Reformation theologians failed to clear out all of the muck from what they were leaving hence leaving plenty for us today to sift through. In fact, the issues in the first paragraph came about from theologians.

Theology in itself is not bad and is indeed needful as we need to rightly divide the Word or we end up with either dead orthodoxy or the wildfire mania we have today. An ignorant theologian is as bad as a well trained Pharisee or Sadducee.

The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life to the letter. It is a balance. Bad theology does not spring from the Holy Spirit. Nor does the Spirit throw out the Word and do things contrary to the Word or the character of the Trinity. That the spirit of confusion is more prevalent today then the Spirit of God is evident by our division, funky theologies and manias.

Many give lip service to the Spirit, but do not allow Him to function as God. Others give credit and blame to the Spirit for things He had nothing to do with, but are actually manifestations of man's vanity or by the enemy.

If indeed a revival is to come it will be the effect of the Spirit correcting our theologies, wrecking our traditions and closing churches as they merge in Spirit and in truth instead of splitting over carnality or being built for man's vanity and programs.

I agree with the pastor who said that the revival will not come from the big time preachers, but from the common man. Indeed, the weak, base and foolish, not the highly educated vicar. Since God calls more of the former and few of the latter we have mucked it up by looking to create more of what God uses the least.

John 7:15  And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

16  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

17  If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

18  He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

When you are truly walking in the Spirit, the degrees will be corrected by Him as He will sift through the muck we learned to clear things up.

Act 4:13  Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Indeed, better to be ignorant and unlearned and people knowing you have been with Jesus than to be highly educated and not with Him.

John 16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

I am afraid we are at the point where most of us cannot learn from the Spirit because we are bound up in degrees and denominations or our delusions caused by demons.

Jesus said that the Spirit would lead us into all truth and that means there would not gray areas or not half truths. There would be just truth. There is only one truth on any issue. God is stable and settled and all of His yeas are yeas and His nays are nays, not maybes or might bes. So, there is only one Gospel and one true doctrine/teaching on any issue.

Mark 1:21  And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

22  And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
