“Twins called trust”
Intro: I was reading some information about twins that people had posted on a blog site.
One question was – can identical twins have the same fingerprints?
Well unless your name is Molly & you are a cloned sheep – no!
Another question that made me smile – can identical twins be different gender?
Well duh! I don’t think so! You know – identical!!!
The answer - The short answer is No!
*** The terms identical and fraternal don't describe what the twins look like, but actually how they form. Identical (monozygotic) twins are always of the same gender because they form from a single zygote that contains either male (XY) or female (XX) sex chromosomes. Therefore, boy/girl twins are always fraternal or (dizygotic).
There are very rare exceptions (about 10 only known to have occurred) in which one of the Y chromosomes is dropped which results in Turner’s Syndrome.
Contrary to the posting & rantings of a few people who still insist that different gender twins can still be identical the fact is that they cannot!
So here’s the issue – twins can actually look alike w/o being identical!
It’s an interesting thought – similar in appearance but different in nature.
We have examples in the W of God of twins whose natures were completely different.
Esau & Jacob were twins but that’s as far as the similarity went w/ them.
One was a son of the flesh, the other was a son of faith.
The W of God gives us the same thought about twins in the Bible called – trust!
That’s right – twins called ‘Trust’.
They share the same name but that’s where the similarity ends.
They certainly don’t share the same father!
And they certainly produce very different kinds of fruit in our lives.
So let’s think about these ‘Twins called trust’.
Text: Jeremiah 17:5-8 ( NKJV ) 5Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. 6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
# 1. Outcomes from the outset.
A. If there is one thing we can say about God’s Word its this – God wants you to be informed!
a. The Bible is God’s manual which tells us how to get the best out of life.
i. God doesn’t want / never intended us to live life like a lottery.
ii. The idea that all our decisions would come down to chance is not God’s idea.
iii. God wants us to be informed about the direction about the direction your life will lead you in & the ultimate destination you’ll arrive at – b/4 you begin the journey!
b. The great power behind God’s word is that it is revelatory.
i. In other words it shines light into the darkness & it reveals things that we can’t see
