Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you unseen wonders which you do not know.

Introduction

Today, I want to share an incredible story that highlights the power of prayer and the amazing things that God can do in our lives. It involves a missionary serving in Africa who experienced a life-threatening situation but was miraculously saved by God's intervention. This story reminds us of the promise in Jeremiah 33:3, where God assures us that if we call upon Him, He will answer and reveal great and mighty things to us.

1. The Power of Prayer

Prayer is our way of communicating with God, seeking His guidance, and expressing our needs and desires. It is a conversation with our Heavenly Father, who loves us unconditionally. We often underestimate the importance of prayer in our lives, spending only a few minutes each day in earnest conversation with God. But if we truly value our relationship with Him, shouldn't we devote more time to prayer?

2. Listening to God's Response

Prayer is not just about talking to God; it also involves listening to His response. Just as conversation is a two-way street, prayer should be a dialogue with God. We need to be still and attentive, allowing Him to speak to our hearts. Sometimes, we may be so focused on impressing others with our prayers that we forget to truly listen to what God wants to say to us.

3. Knowing Who God Is

In our world today, there are many different beliefs and religions. However, when we talk about calling upon God and expecting an answer, we need to be clear about who this "God" is. In the New Testament, Jesus reveals that God is our Heavenly Father, and He is one with the Father. He is the one true God, the creator of all things, and the source of our salvation through Jesus Christ.

4. God's Promise to Answer

When we pray to God through Jesus Christ, He promises to answer our prayers. His answers may come in different forms – a "yes," a "no," or a "wait." We must trust in His wisdom and timing. God's answers may not always align with our desires, but He knows what is best for us. We can be confident that He will respond to our prayers according to His perfect will.

5. Great and Mighty Things

God's promise in Jeremiah 33:3 extends beyond simply answering our prayers. He also promises to show us great and mighty things that we do not know. Throughout history, God has done incredible things for His people – parting the Red Sea, defeating giants, healing the sick, and even raising the dead. There is nothing too difficult for Him. We should have faith and expect God to do great and mighty things in our lives, our church, and our community.

Conclusion

As we reflect on the story of the missionary in Africa and the promise in Jeremiah 33:3, let us remember the power of prayer and the greatness of our God. Let us devote more time to prayer, both speaking to God and listening to His response. Let us trust in His answers, knowing that He will always do what is best for us. And let us have faith that God will show us great and mighty things beyond our imagination. May we eagerly anticipate the incredible works that God will do in our lives and in the world around us.
