2024.04.07 Sermon Notes. Oh Say, Can you SEE? Wake up CHURCH! Wake up America!

William Akehurst, HSWC

BIG IDEA: Recent events in our nation and world-wide should be calling our attention. GOD is calling us to take a stand for Truth and HIS Righteousness. We are to sound the alarm to warn everyone to turn back to HIM.

Scriptures: Numbers 10:1-9, Ezekiel 33:2-7, Joshua 1:9

I recently heard Dutch Sheets on Give Him 15 with a message titled “Oh say can you SEE?” and the events of the FRANCIS SCOTT KEY BRIDGE, our Nations Anthem that begins with those words, “Oh Say Can You SEE” as well a spiritual take on the things happening in our country and around the world. I would encourage you to look it up online.

But here are a few of the things he put out there for the Church to take to heart.

I was thinking about the word Church. It begins and ends with CH…as in CHRIST. And what is wrapped on both ends with CHRIST? UR…you are…believer.

And there is a message that we must shout out now.

SAY…It’s time for the CHURCH to rise up, awaken, and pray and declare out loud that we need JESUS.

SEE…there are signs of the times happening everywhere. GOD is calling forth the CHURCH to fulfill it’s duty. To sound the alarm before it’s too late.

The LORD is reaching out, trying to get our attention. Our nation was founded on principles of Scripture as One Nation under GOD, and the various documents that were used to create this nation are flooded with scriptures. In the past years, we have seen the eroding of these foundational statements and have taken on views not congruent with those of the originating founders of our once great nation.

There are many prophetic words being spoken about the recent collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge, and the symbolic nature of this tragic incident as we see what is happening to the moral fiber of our nation.

This should be a wake-up call to the people of America. However, many are asleep and each day goes by like any other.

I think of the CHURCH, that begins and ends in Christ (CH), and who is in the midst? YOU ARE as believers!

It’s time for the CHURCH to wake up. It’s time for the CHURCH to sound the alarm. It’s time for the CHURCH to take a stand for the foundation of our nation.

There is oppression in our land, coming from the enemy; lies and deception have crept in unaware to those who sit idle. The enemy, Satan, knows that time is short, and he is determined to war with those who belong to CHRIST.

There are physical wars happening all around the globe. There are visible signs of earthquakes, volcanic activity, sea surges, tsunami’s, wildfires, etc. etc.

I believe the LORD is showing us SIGNS, and causing us to look deeper than ever before. We must keep a biblical world view of what is going on in our world.

And when we see these things coming, we must be the voice to proclaim, declare, share, and shout it out.

We are at war. Yes, spiritual warfare is a real battle.

We are being called to GATHER together, and sound the ALARM!

Numbers 10:1-9 (NKJV)

1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps. 3 When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 4 But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you. 5 When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey. 6 When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys. 7 And when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance. 8 The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations.

9 “When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.”

Ezekiel 33:2-7

2 “Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and say to them: When I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from their territory and make him their watchman, 3 when he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the trumpet and warns the people, 4 then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head.
