Summary: Psalm 121 provides us a glimpse of a faithful God as we bring our prayers before him.

PSALM 121

WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING?

Introduction: Madtes – confusion, whose prayer

Caley – prayer’s privilege, power & promise

“For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you” 2 Chron 20:12

What are you expecting when you face challenges beyond your personal resources? Our expectations may not be Scriptural. “My momma use to say.” “My daddy told me.” “The preacher said . . .” Unscriptural expectations set us up for “Chicken Little” theology (Peter – nothing strange)

Our Western mentality about God, his plan for our life, our responsibility and the role of the HS concerning the Christian walk, and the issue of suffering are far from being Scriptural. When we do not have a Scriptural perspective concerning these issues then our expectations will set us for failure. Failure in our faith, in our marriage, in our parenting role, and in the body of Christ.

This morning I invite you to look to the Word of God with fresh eyes and an open heart as the HS guides us toward a clearer revelation of God.
