What Does Father Mean To You? Series

Illus: There are behaviours about my character and personality that I honestly cannot control. I can somehow keep them in check but they keep rising up. Some of them are really good and other things are not so good. Why? Inbred nature – I’m just like my dad – or mom.

My daughter Janine is the walking representation of her Aunt Doris (who is with the Lord). I’ve told Janine that as long as she’s around Auntie Doris will always be with us and will never die.

When the very presence of God is breathed into your spirit and the cleansing love of God captures your heart with the truth and reality of his love for you, you will receive the love of a Father that you have long desired. And then, his:

•The opportunity has come to us that we can mirror – not the image of our earthly fathers – but mirror the image of our heavenly Father through the witness of his love in our hearts for our enemies!

•Now I can no more be like God by deciding I’m going to love you than I can decide that I’ll be a bird if I can fly! The lesson here is, when I become so consumed, surrendered and possessed with God’s presence with me and in me that it is all I live for, I, like Jesus will not be able to help myself but love. Because I see the Father loving, so what else can I do?! And as a result, because of His love poured into my heart through Christ Jesus, and overflowing out to the world, people are drawn to the likeness of the image of God!

•The love God poured out to us through Christ (and do you not bathe in the mystery and indescribable love of God?!) is the same love he wants poured out to the world through us!
