What is a Man to do?
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Duet. 6:4-9 (NIV)
• We get TRAINING for most of the things we need to do.
• It is a confusing world for most MEN. (Not knowing what to do.)
• Most men never got the training necessary to play their part in LIFE.
God’s Word tells me what I am suppose to do? (four principles)
1 The First Thing I Should Do Is Give My All To God. (v. 5)
1- God desires that I give my heart - my INNER most being to Him.
2- God desires that I give my soul - my LOWER nature to Him. (Trans. life, creature)
3- God desires that I give my strength - PASSION to Him. (vehemence)
? This is the most important thing any man can do! (Mt 22:37-39)
4- Giving my all to God starts with a DECISION.
5- Giving my all to God continues as a PROCESS.
2 Next, I Should Learn To Meditate On God’s Word. (v. 6)
1- WORRY is just negative meditation.
2- I can WORRY, so I can meditate!
3- Meditation is the way I write God’s WORD on the tablet of my heart.
4- I Become what I THINK about!
3 Then, I Should Teach God’s Word To My Children. (v. 7)
1- Every HUSBAND should be personally involved in the process!
2- “Impress” (NIV) “Teach” (KJV) literally means to SHARPEN.
3- Much of how I do this is based on my relationship with my WIFE.
4 Finally, I Should Let God’s Word Influence My Everyday Life. (vs. 7-9)
1- Spiritual education must be LIFE-oriented, real and practical.
2- My home is the best place to learn and live out spiritual TRUTH.
3- I should let God’s Word effect every part of my LIFE.
The hope of fulfilling my life is found in surrendering my life to God.
