Summary: And he has compassion, And He will not send you away, And He feeds me, And he satisfies me, And He takes care of all.

Where is Andy? Matthew 14:13-21

I was watching a reel on facebook found this and thought that will work for a message. Don't know where the story originated.

Little girl come home from church and she runs into kitchen opens drawers hollow, Where is Andy?

She run upstairs where is Andy? Comes back down stairs into the living room to her mother she says, “Where is Andy”? Mother says , “What?” Little girls runs upstairs where her daddy is, she says, Daddy where is Andy?” Daddy says, “There better not be no Andy in here”. Finally, they get the little girl settled down the Father says, “who is Andy?”

You remember one of the Old Deacons at the church was singing ,

Andy He walks with me Andy he Talks with me

Andy tells me I am His own

And the Old Deacon said, “Andy blesses my soul

Andy he pays my bills Andy picks me up when I am down

Andy feeds me when I am hungry

1. Herod had just had John the Baptist Beheaded

• They needed a place to grieve and pray

• Jesus gets in a boat goes to a place across the Sea of Galilee

• The needy , the less fortunate one followed Jesus

• Jesus is suffering and grieved but he still helps

2. Like the Deacon , The Crowd that day said, “And He” Has Compassion on the Masses

• 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

• Jesus isn’t irritated or annoyed that his retreat has been interrupted.

• Jesus cares deeply for these people who are in need and unable to help themselves.

• Jesus has compassion for people in the crowd — which means, literally, that he “suffers with” them (Matthew 14:14).

3. Like the Deacon The Crowd says “And He”Will not Send you Away

• “This is a very remote place there’s nothing here Jesus send the crowd away” , said the disciples. 18 “Bring them here to me,” Jesus says.

• We have heard this before “come unto Me all ye that are heavy laden he will not send you away but will give you rest

• He did not send sinners away, nor lepers, he would not send the blind, nor the lame away but he healed them all

4. Like the Deacon The crowds say “And He”Feeds me 6 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

• When we feel spiritually empty he fills me

• When we are worn out at the end of a long day, Jesus does not send us away to fend for ourselves.

• He invites us to lie down in green pastures, and he gives us what we need for life.

5. Like the Deacon The Crowd says, “And He”Satisfies Notice that when everyone in the crowd eats and is filled, there are 12 baskets of food left over — one for each of the 12 disciples. And they were all satisfied

• Sharing with others never depletes us, never hurts us, never robs us of what we need for a good life. In the wonderful abundance of God’s generous gifts, there is always enough for all.

Psalm 103 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. ...

6. Like the Deacon The Crowd says, “And He” take care of the men, women, and children

• Like a good shepherd, he gives us what we need for life

• And He takes care of all sheep— ANd He gives abundant food, drink and protection.

• And He wants us to be his disciples,

• And he asks us to feed others with the resources that he has given us.

• Remember the little girl where is Andy? He is where the suffering ones are like those in the text no food

• And he is where the sinners are the lepers, the blind the lame

• And He is where the empty ones are empty of substances empty of life , empty of not enough oil in the lamp, empty spiritually

Finally, And he Has compassion, And He will not send you away, And He Feeds Me, and He Satisfies, And He takes Care of the men the women and the children.

• The psalmist says for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

• Communion are you thirsty are you hungry come eat and drink?
