Summary: Things to be thankful for.

Be thankful unto Him

Ps 100:1-4

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

NIV

What an incredible passage of scripture. If only God’s people would come together like that every Sunday! Instead of looking like we’ve just swam through a pool of pickles let’s rejoice in Him today.

Songs: I Feel Like Traveling On

He Has Made Me Glad

Heaven Came Down

How Great Thou Art

God would have all His people to be rich in joy and happiness when they think on Jesus. We should delight in His beauty and love. If God’s people can’t rejoice then no one has a right too. We are joint heirs with Christ of God’s blessing.

Things to be thankful for:

2. Divine Provision

a. 2 Peter 1:3 - His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

3. Grace

a. Rom 5:15 - But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!

4. Fellowship of Believers

a. 1 Thess 5:11 - Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…

5. Peace

a. John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.

b. Phil 4:5-7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

6. Forgiveness

a. Eph 1:7 - In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

7. Eternal Hope

a. Rom 12:12 - Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

When we consider the unspeakable gift we have in Christ Jesus we cannot help but be thankful. We were not worthy. We were entrenched in our sin with no hope and God sent us hope in the form of His son. Think of the mighty love which drew Christ from glory to die upon the cross. The more we see Christ lifted up, the lower our heads should bow in thankfulness.
