1 John 5:13-21

I. Confidence in Eternal Life (v. 13)

a. Useful prayers (v. 14-15; John 14:13; 1 John 3:22)

III. Confidence in Victory over Sin and Satan (v. 18)

a. A new nature in us (1 John 3:9)

b. A powerful protection plan (Job 1:9-10; John 10:28)

IV. Confidence in Belonging to God (v. 19)

a. Discernment of spirits (1 John 4:6)

b. A new nature in us

V. Confidence in Christ’s Divine Supremacy (v. 20)

a. Spiritual perception given by Christ (Luke 24:45)

b. The gift of eternal life given by God the Father (1 John 5:11)

v. 21—Knowing these certainties, we can most assuredly understand why we should follow ONLY the one true God, Jesus Christ.

1 John 4:9—9By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
