How many of you know that God wants to Make Something Great Out of You and Your Life?
He said of everything that was created before sin came on the scene was It is Good.
Then when He had made Man and Woman ......He said of His Creation It is Very Good.
God Created us for Good....
That’s what He had in Mind when He made you and me......
Several times we see in the Bible where it is said that God knew someone BEFORE they were Born....
and the truth is.....
....... He knows EVERYONE of us and Plans a Great Life for us EVEN BEFORE we’re born.....
but we know all to well.......
Sin came on the scene and moved us out of the plan of God for our lives....
but Thank God for Jesus.....
.....Who Opened the Way to God’s Kingdom for us and Became the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE for All who would Believe, Rely, and Trust Him as their Saviour and Lord.......
Jesus is our Restorer.....He put us back in line to Live Out God’s Good Plan for our lives....
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Most translation use the word "for" in place of "unto" in this verse....
and I think it adds Clarity....
We are Created FOR good works....
but that doesn’t mean we will ever do them.....Even though that’s what He created us for.....
But our Hearts Cry out for Greatness.....We long to do great things....
and we’ve tried most anything to Accomplish it....
but Nothing will Ever Do ASIDE from God.....and Doing things His Way......
Jesus is the Way to Restoring us to the Good that God Created us for.....
But we need to UNDERSTAND that a WAY is Useless if it’s not Taken.....
A Door won’t take you anywhere if you don’t go through it.....
A Road won’t get you there if you don’t FOLLOW it......
And Jesus Himself can’t help you if you don’t FOLLOW HIM.....
Matthew 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Let’s break this down for just a minute....
Jesus said .....first.....FOLLOW ME.....
He’s the Way.....and the Only way to Benefit from the WAY is to FOLLOW It......
That’s the first thing we need to Determine to do......FOLLOW HIM.....
Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
If Jesus is ever going to get us anywhere in life ....we have to FOLLOW Him.....
That’s the way Others before us Walked in the Blessing of God in their lives....
They FOLLOWED Him.....
That’s what faith does....it FOLLOWS God......
....His Direction .....His Pattern.....His Word.......whatever...but it FOLLOWS His Leading......
Genesis 12:1-3 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
God had all these blessing in store for Abraham but they ALL DEPENDED on him FOLLOWING God’s Direction.....
We don’t have Jesus in the flesh to follow around in His Shadow like the Disciples did....
but we are to Follow Him in Faith just like those FAITH HEROES of the Old Testament.....
Look what happens AFTER the FOLLOWING.......
Our Text in Matthew 4:19 Jesus said Follow me, and I will Make you.......something.....
Now He told them He would make them Fishers of men...
but you need to understand that Jesus was talking to Men who were ALREADY Fishermen.....
What He was really telling them is I will make you a SUCCESS in Life.....
And that’s the message I want you to hear tonight.....
Following God is the sure fire way to be a Success in anything you do in life......
but the Faith Life can be SCARY at times.....
We may have to walk where we’ve never been before and .....
....do what we’ve never done before.....
but Just Remember Jesus is the Creator God.....
and He said "I will Make You......"
So even if you don’t have Naturally what it takes to be a success.....
....He will make you into it and It into you if you will FOLLOW HIM......
