Intro:

What Do you want to Do with Your Life?

Most have hopes and dreams

Some have plans and schemes

Some have selfish desires and some long to help others

What Does God want to Do in your Life?

A More important question

One that has both temporal and eternal dimensions

What is the answer to this question?

I. God wants to Begin a Work in Your Life

a. “He which hat begun”

i. This is surprising but true

ii. God wants to work in the lives of sinners

iii. Here is amazing grace ready to work in us

b. This is the opposite of what we naturally want

i. We want to reach for the stars

ii. We want to achieve financial success

iii. We want to climb higher

c. God wants to reach down

i. To meet and change a sinner

ii. To seal an individual as His own

d. God invites you to become His child by faith (John 1:12)

e. He wants to start His work of reconstruction in you today

II. God Wants to Begin a Good Work in Your Life

a. “He which hat begun a GOOD work in you”

b. God’s work in us may not seem good at the beginning

i. Begins with making us aware of our sins (Romans 3:10-23)

ii. We learn that our good works are worthless (Isaiah 64:6)

iii. We learn that we have earned only death (Romans 6:23)

c. Grace brings us hope

i. God loves us; Christ died for us

ii. We move from conviction to conversion

d. Faith in Christ brings many good things to us

i. Forgiveness of sins

ii. Justification

iii. Assurance of heaven

iv. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit

v. A purpose to live: the glory of God

III. God Wants to Perform a Permanent Work in Your Life

a. “Will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ”

b. Paul was “confident” this good work would last

c. Summarizing God’s good work in believers

i. God begins His Work (v. 6)

ii. God continues His work (2:13)

iii. God completes His work (3:20-21)

d. Eternal life really is eternal life (I John 5:13)

Conclusion

Have you sensed God being at Work in your Life?

Have you been convicted of your sins?

Have you been made aware of God’s Love?

Are your ready to come in faith to Christ?

God’s Good Work can begin in your life today.
