SPIRITUAL INCAPACITY
Matt 15: 29-31
(KJV)…29And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. 30And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them: 31Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
INTRODUCTION:
INCAPACITIES - DISABILITY, inadequate strength or ability. Lack of capacity.
-it is a condition where a certain person is not capable of acting or functioning normally.
- handicapped.
- This condition of incapacities, disabilities, is preventing the person to live, to act to the fullest and having a normal
- A state where the person cannot perform naturally. It has abnormalities.
***Reasons of being incapacities:
- By birth –
- By acts of others –
- By own carelessness –
- By choice –
*** Since the person is in the condition of being incapable, he has disability… THE PERSON IS CONSIDERED UNHEALTHY!
-The first thing in mind is to see a doctor, take medicine… and do all the things necessary to make us well.. or healthy.
-Nobody wants to stay unhealthy.
-Nobody wants to stay unfit.
-Everybody wanted to be healthy, capable, able to do the things we wishes to do.
***Today, we will look some events where our Lord Jesus Christ heals some unhealthy persons, disable persons… so please be patient to me as we study “SPIRITUAL INCAPACITIES”.
I. LAME
***WHAT IS THE INCAPACITY? DISABILITY? – WALKING
- The person’s problem is related to his feet!
- He cannot walk.
- The incapacity is on his ability to walk normally.
- He got the legs, the feet… but they are not able to bring him/her into the place he/she wanted to go.
***THE PERSON NEEDS ALWAYS SOMETHING OR SOMEONE TO HELP HIM/HER SO THAT HE CAN GO ANYWHERE.
*** HIS ACTION OR MOVEMENT IS DEPENDENT TO OTHERS…. EITHER IN THINGS… OR PEOPLE.
- Without those things... THEY ARE IMMOBILE.
***NOTE – NOT REFERRING ON MAKING LIFTS!
A. THEY ARE DEPENDENT TO OTHERS
B. THEY ARE IMMOBILE… STAGNANT.
C. WORSE … IT STINK!
ILLUSTRATION:
- A moving train is very hard to bring to stop. Even putting an obstacle in his rails, he will push it through.
- But an immobile, stationary train, is cannot be move by putting a small block on his rail. It needs lots of power to move it.
***Keep on going! Don’t give chance the enemy to bring us to stop!
Isaiah 52:7…How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
II. BLIND
*** WHAT IS THE INCAPACITY? DISABILITY – SEEING
- The person’s problem is related to the eyes!
- He got probable eyes… but they could not see.
- He can walked unlike the lame…
- He can talked unlike the mute…
- But HE COULDN’T SEE!
- He got no VISION!
***NO VISSIBILITY - NO VISION!
- All he could see is darkness!
- No matter others would tell him how good his surroundings, for him is DARKNESS!
- HE KNOWS ONLY ONE COLOR – BLACK!
*** Thank GOD on the rainbow that He had made… there is no color black! For in God there is always light!
John 1:4 … In HIM was life, and that life is the light of men.
John 8:12 …When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
- This kind of person can’t appreciate things.
- He can’t see good things.
- All He knows is HIS LITTLE SURROUNDINGS!
***NO CARE FOR OTHERS… NO COMPASSION.
- They can’t see… therefore they don’t care!
- Put a needy on his side, unless you tell him… he will not know… he will not care…
***FEARFUL … VERY SENSITIVE
- every step that he will take… there is a fear inside of him that he is taking the right path.
- Fear to fall.
- Fear to be hit.
- Fear to hit somebody.
- Fear that the step he is taking that will be his last steps.
2 Tim 1:7… For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
III. MUTE – DUMB
*** WHAT IS THE INCAPACITY? DISABILITY – SPEAKING
- It is related to his mouth, to his tongue.
- There is problem in his words.
- He got the feet and able to walked unlike the lame…
- He got the eyes and able to see unlike the blind…
- But this person…. He got the mouth but can’t speak… speaking---- dumb… mute.
***Mark 9:7, 25… An evil spirit afflicted the boy with dumb, mute spirit…. Where his victims is robbed him of his speech, his words.
***MUTE –DUMB ---- in the original text… it can be translated into DEAF.
- He got problem not only on his speaking… but on his hearing as well.
*** And oftentimes…. A mute person is a deaf person… and a deaf person is a mute person.
- It comes together…. The person cannot speak words… because he was not able to hear words… He cannot hear words… therefore he don’t know what words to say.
***HIS PROMLEM IS SPEAKING AND HIS LISTENING!
- His ability to listen.
- His ability to hear his surroundings.
*** THIS KIND OF PERSON HAS DIFFICULTY IN UNDERSTANDING WHAT OTHER PERSON IS SAYING…
*** COMMUNICATION…
-He got the thoughts… but he is unable to express it.
*** IN GEOMETRY… STRAIGHT LINE IS THE SHORTEST DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO LINES…
- COMMUNICATION IS THE SHORTEST DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO PERSONS.
IV. CRIPPLED – MAIMED
- WHAT IS INCAPACITY? DISABILITY – ACTING INDIFFERENT!
- HIS INCAPACITIES HIS ANYTHING THAT MAKES HIM ACT, PERFORM BEYOND NATURAL.
*** IN HIS WALKING --- HE CANNOT WALK STRAIGHT!
- The flat ground is becoming rocky roads.
*** IN HIS SEEING - HE HAS A POOR VISSIBILITY!
- He can’t determine properly which is which.
*** IN HIS SPEAKING - HE MIGHT HAVE A STAMMERING TONGUE.
*** THIS KIND OF PERSON HAS A DEFECT! UNPERFECT!
- It might be his limb…unable him to walked properly
- It might be his tongue… unable him to speak properly
- It might be his eyes… unable him to see clearly.
- It might be anything “abnormal” or uncommon to others… which makes him crippled!
*** IN SPORTS --- HE GOT INJURY - HE CANNOT JOIN THE GAME.
*** THESE ARE THE KIND OF PERSONS… WHO HAVE BEEN HURT…. WHO HAVE BEEN HIT… OTHERS.
- He acts indifferently!
- He has changed… He is not performing as before…
***HE IS BEEN WATCHED BY OTHERS!
***HE IS BEEN TALKED BY OTHERS!
- talked of the town.
V. OTHERS
- All others with different sickness…
- Those with minor injuries…
- Those that been ill… but cannot be seen outside…
- Those that had been hurting inside…
- Those that had been ill in some various ways…
***THERE IS NO EXCEPTION OF DISEASE
***THERE IS NO EXCEPTION OF DISABIULITY
***THERE IS NO EXCEPTION OF INCAPACITIES.
OTHERS!
*** SPIRITUAL INCAPACITIES!
- We have look on lame
- We have look on blind
- We have look on mute, deaf
- We have look on crippled
- We have look on other sickness
*** LISTEN TO THIS SPIRITUAL TRUTH!
1 Cor 12:12-30…. PAUL DESCRIBE THE CHURCH AS A BODY!
- It is a unit but many parts
- It has a feet, it has an eyes, it has mouth, it has ears… hands… in has every part to function as a body.
V.26… IF ONE PART SUFFERS, EVERY PARTS SUFFERS; IF ONE PART IS HONORED, EVERY PART REJOICES WITH IT.
*** NOW, HOW DO YOU THINK…
- IF FEET OF THE BODY IS LAME?
- IF THE EYES ARE BLIND?
- IF THE MOUTH IS MUTE?
- IF THE EARS ARE DEAF?
- IF THE HANDS ARE CRIPPLED?
*** THE BODY IS UNHEALTHY!
***IN HAS INCAPACITIES!
- WHAT IF THE FEET CANNOT WALKED PROPERLY?
- WHAT IF THE MOUTH DOESN’T WANT TO SPEAK?
- WHAT IF THE EYES CANNOT SEE CLEARLY?
- WHAT IF THE EARS CANNOT HEAR?
*** GOD WANTS OUR BODY TO BE HEALTHY… AS WELL HIS CHURCH!
WHAT THEY DID?
***Matt 15:30…. They laid it at the feet of Jesus… and He healed them!
--- The mute started to speak!
--- The crippled made well!
--- The lame walking!
--- The blind started to see!
*** The INCAPACITIES WAS GONE …. WHEN THEY SURRENDERED IT TO OUR LORD!
*** THEY LAID IT IN HIS FEET….SURRENDER!
2 Chronicle 7:14…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Isaiah 35:5-6… 5Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. 6 Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
CONCLUSION:
*** ARE YOU LAME FOR SOME TIME IN YOUR SPIRITUAL WALKED?
*** HAVE YOU BEEN BLINDED BY THE CARES OF THE WORLD AND FORGET THE THINGS ABOUT GOD IN THE PAST?
*** HAVE YOU BEEN STRUGGLING FOR WORDS, BEING TIMID, SHY, AND WAS NOT ABLE TO SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD’S LOVE TO OTHERS?
*** HAVE YOU BEEN DEAF ON YOUR HEARING AND WAS NOT ABLE TO HEAR THE VOICES OF SOUL CRYING FOR HELP?
*** OR HAVE YOU BEEN WOUNDED, HURT, STRIKEN… AND YOU ARE INJURED… AND CRIPPLED ?
Matt 9:12... It is not the healthy who needs a doctor… but the sick!
- The LORD CAME IN THE FIRST PLACE… BECAUSE HE FOUND US UNHEALTHY FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.
- HE FOUND US BLINDED…
- HE FOUND US CRIPPLED..
- HE FOUND US LAME…
- HE FOUND US MUTE…
*** That’s is why JESUS IS THERE!
*** ARE YOU WILLING TO LAY YOUR “SPIRITUAL INCAPACITIES” AT THE FEET OF JESUS?
*** ARE YOU SATISFIED IN YOUR CONDITION?
