God’s man

Text: (1 Samual 16: 1-13)

I. A MAN CHOSEN BY THE FATHER (1 Sam. 16:1&12)

A. A chosen leader

B. A chosen servant

C. A chosen solider (in the Lord’s army)

II. A MAN ANOINTED BY THE FATHER (1 Sam. 16:13 a&b)

A. David’s anointing was three-fold

1. Anointed privately by Samuel (1Sam.16:13)

2. Anointed king of Judah (2 Sam. 2:4)

3. Anointed king of all of Israel (2 Sam. 5:3)

B. God’s Man will have a three-fold anointing

1. Anointed into the family of God (saved by the blood of Jesus)

2. Anointed for the work of God (separated by the Holy Spirit)

3. Anointed to the work of God’s choice (allows God to choose)

III. A MAN FILLED BY THE FATHER (1 Sam. 16:13c)

A. allows God to direct him

B. allows God to speak through him

C. allows God to have the glory

IV. A MAN WHO FEEDS FOR THE FATHER (1 Sam. 17:15)

A. Feeding the sheep was the most important thing

B. staying in Saul’s palace was not

C. entertaining Saul was not

D. pleasing people was not

V. A MAN WHO SERVES THE FATHER (1 Sam. 17:16-18)

A. David obeyed his father

1. even when there was no glory in it

2. even when it became difficult

B. David served the one’s on the front lines

C. David was willing to do whatever, for The Father

VI. A MAN WHO LOVES THE FATHER (1 Sam. 17:26)

A. and will stand for the things of God even if:

1. some others are worried

2. some others are ready to throw in the towel

3. some others are paralyzed by fear

B. and will fear God more than man

VII. A MAN WHO TRUST IN THE FATHER ( 1 Sam. 17:34-37)

A. He trust the one who saved him

B. He trust the one who empowers him

C. He trust the one who called him

1. if he is God called then, God will work out the problems

2. if he is God called then, God will see him through

D. When he is God called he can serve in the faith of the Lord knowing:

1. It is God’s choice not just his own

2. It is God’s choice and He will meet the needs

3. It is God’s choice and the only way to have the abundant Christian life.

WHO WILL FIGHT THIS PHILISTINE ?

1. God has chosen a man

2. God has already anointed him for the work

3. God has already filled him with His Spirit

4. He’s a man who will feed the Father’s sheep

5. He’s a man who will serve the Father (not his own)

6. He’s a man who loves the Father (love motivates him)

7. He’s a man who trust the Father

8. He’s a man who will go into the valleys because he knows that that is where he can grow, that’s where victory awaits, that’s where the blessings flow
