What Jesus Was Made #4
Jesus Was Made Sin
2 Cor 5.21
Again let me remind you Jesus was the Word Made Flesh, Jesus was Made of a Woman/Made Under the Law, Jesus was Made A Curse by hanging on the Cross.
We know by scripture that Jesus was not a Curse but was a blessing allowing Himself to become a Curse by dieing on a Cross for your sins and mine.
You and I have been cursed by living in sin the Bible teaches that we all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God Romans 3.23.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Ro 6.23
It is in that truth that I long to share briefly with you today.
The text read Jesus “who know no sin” was “made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
Jesus Himself was sinless
That means he never told a lie, he never committed adultery, he never cursed, he never said one thing and did another,
Hollywood is trying to portray that Jesus being made sin lived a sinful life, that he told a few shady things, had a love affair and the list could go on but understand that is Hollywood and it is not true.
Jesus never experienced sin in thought, word or deed.
When Jesus was confronted with the woman caught in adultery said you without sin throw the first stone He Himself was the only one that Qualified, but did not cast a stone but offered forgiveness.
Now lets look at how this Sinless Christ became sin for us.
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Jesus being made under the law was in direct obedience to fulfill the righteous standard God declares.
It is in the OT that we understand how this sinless one becomes sin for us.
In the OT people, a family, even the nation of Israel would find a spotless, sinless offering many times a lamb,
They would bring that lamb (2) to the door of the tabernacle place there hands on the head of the offering and pray a prayer of forgiveness and a prayer of forgetfulness.
One Lamb would be killed and other would lead out into the wilderness to be let go, free.
Through the act of impartation the righteous demands of God was satisfied in the lamb.
Was the lamb sinful? No the lamb was made the sin offering.
John the Baptist was baptizing and looked up an shall Jesus walking by and said “Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.
Jesus the Lamb of God, the sinless One, was willing to die for your sin, to be nailed to a cross, the impartation of a crown of thrones on His Head
To die for sinful man, that we could come in right standing with God, because there is no righteousness in us without the life of Jesus Christ.
I know that from time to time God points to an act, a thought, a word in my life and I since the convicting of the HG that working of God and not man.
That’s one reason I wanted to stand down here today because there is no difference between me and you in our need for Jesus Christ in our life.
Jesus still has the scares in heaven to remind him of becoming sin for us.
Jesus was not made sin but rather made the sin offering
Heb 9. 14…. He offered Himself without spot to God.
Judged by God for sinful mankind.
Jesus died for my sins and yours that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
Just as the OT people had to pray the prayer over the sacrifice we too must pray the prayer of forgiveness confessing our sin and believing that Jesus was the offering of our sin.
Then and only then our we made in right standing with God.
That why I stand amazed at the marvelous Grace and Mercy of God, Jesus my redeemer.
Jesus was made sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord in which He paid upon the Cross
Do you have that gift of eternal life? Jesus died for you and me the ground is level at the Cross.
