Summary: This sermon will help those that feel like the devil is out to steal, kill and destory you.

If you remember in the first lesson David told us how to defeat our giants.

Do you remember how to...

- face them head on

- get to the head of the problem

- be brave no matter what the circumstances or

situation looks like

- Not be scared

- Keep your focus on Jesus, rather than your giants

- Talk up Jesus more than your problems

David defeated Goliath, and he helped us know how to defeat the Goliaths in our lives.

David told us in order to defeat our Giants we have to go to them in Jesus name and cut their head off through the power of God.

Then we found out that David showed us how to defeat the Giant of Exclusion. How to go on when our phone does not ring! David told us that God could find us no matter where we were. He knows our phone numbers and he know just how to find us right where we are.

- does not matter if we are in a low position or

entry level position God will find us

- does not matter if we are stanking, funky, fit for

nothing God can find us

- does not matter if we are clubbing now, drinking

now, and smoking now, or being just plain lazy now

that God can find us. (Why)

- God looks at the heart; he looks not at what we are

now, but what we will be later

- We look at ourselves as energy at rest (potential),

but God looks at us as the energy in motion

(kinetic)

- The world may see a whore, but God sees the Holy

Ghost in us

- The world may see a sinner, but God sees a saint

- The world sees and drinker, but God sees a dancer

- The world may see liar, but God sees the light that

shines down on the inside of us.

So David said do not worry if it seems as though we are being Excluded because God has not forgotten about us!

Do not worry if the phone does not ring, because God knows our number.

As we pick up on our poster boy hero we find that David now has to deal with another situation, David has to deal with yet another Giant, a RAGGING SAUL! (Somebody say a Ragging Saul)

1 Samuel 19; 1,9,10

David has to deal with a king that is trying to kill him. Anybody got any Saul’s in their life? Somebody trying to kill you? Kill your spirit, your ministry, your soul? your joy?

David had to deal with a king that was trying to take him out and not just one time either.

David has to deal with a king that tried to kill him numerous times

He had to deal with a person that was trying to kill him everytime he turned around.

(I wish you all would have gotten on board early in the lesson.)

- 1st attempt, he tried to kill him by appealing to his manhood. (Yeah, you do know that the devil will try to attack you at your weakest point) Right off the bat the Devil hit him hard!

He invites David to marry his oldest, Merab, but when the time came she was already given away.

Ironically Michal (Michelle) loved David and wanted David. So Saul was cool with that and said David could can have her but you have to kill 100 philistines’ and bring me their foreskins.

(This in itself was a unreasonable request because normally you would have to pay a monetary price but Saul’s intention was for David to fall in battle and be slain in the process)

Nevertheless David said no problem! So the next battle that comes up David not only brings him what he asked for but he doubles the amount!

Chpt 18 vs. 27 He killed 200 philistines Saul thought for sure he would die in battle, but David lived. But Saul was trying to kill him. (Do not overlook this attempt by Saul)

- But notice how he tries to attack him. It was at a man’s weakest point through a woman! (Witness)

*I wish someone knew that Satan can attack a

man through a woman

- The devil used the woman to get Adam, Sampson, Solomon, Lot, even Bill Clinton & guess what? He is

still using the same tricks today.

* look at the divorce rate

* look at how he attacks the man of God

through women all the time at church

* Either he tries to manipulate men with a

woman, or he uses a woman to manipulate men

* But in David’s case as we will find out

shortly that he had a GOOD wife! (Say Good

wife)A man that findeth a wife findeth a

good thang!

* But us men have it so hard

- 2nd attempt on David’s life Saul orders his son Jonathan to kill him. Since he could not get him through women, he goes to his friend! Look at how Satan attacks him! Chpt 19:1, 2 but they (his friends) refuse.

* notice how Satan will try to use the people

closest to you

* Do not be discourage when your friend sells

you out

* Do not be surprised when the person you

thought you could trust puts your name in

the streets

* Satan will try to use the people closet to

you

* Quit tripping when your good friends tries

to take your man

(hello somebody)(I hope you hear me) (I hope someone is receiving this word)

- 3rd attempt 19:10 he tries with a spear but he

missed him; David slipped out and got free

* once the devil cannot get you through the

people closet to you, he will do it himself

* Do not be surprised when Satan makes a

personal attack to take you out

* Do not be surprised when you see the WORST

DEMONS attacking you

* How? (Through depression, fear, anxiety,

sicknesses, feeling like you are nothing

* Making you think nobody loves me, (ooh woe

is me); allow you to have a pity party

* Anybody know that Satan will try to take

you out? (I am in the text)

- 4th attempt Saul sends messengers to his house to kill him, but his wife spoil the plan and lures David through a window (Thank God for a loving wife)

* A loving wife will do what she has to do to

help her husband

* Look at (Text), I Samuel 19: 11-14

* She made a image of him, took some goat

hair, laid it in the bed

* Then she lied for her husband. Some of you

all may not get that, but that is the type

of wife I like, one that will do what she

has to do to save her man

* One who got your back no matter what.

"a down chick”

(Tell your neighbor, Now that is a Good Wife)

The plot goes on but Saul was not able to kill him.

David even asked Saul’s son Jonathan, what have I done to make your farther want to kill me? Jonathan said Man, I do not know, but if I knew I would tell you.

So again I ask the question….

Has anyone ever had to deal with a Saul in your life?

Has anyone ever had to deal with someone trying to kill you in your life?

You ever had someone who seem like they just would not stop, but they keep trying over and over and over again!

Has anyone ever been in a bad relationship that almost killed you?

- A supervisor that tries to make you go insane?

- Low down co-workers who tries to do you in?

- Back stabbing classmates

- Two faced friends?

- Demon possessed church members?

- Children that make you want to discipline them?

- Anybody that gets on your dog on nerves!

Anybody ever had any Saul’s in your life!

I mean folks that are trying to kill you and you do not even know why?

David says what did I do? I Samuel 20:1

But Jonathan could not give him one reason, because there was not one.

- Heck who knows why a father would torment a child

- Who knows why a wife belittles her husband

- Who knows why people make other peoples lives a

living hell

So quit trying to figure it out!

- Who knows? All we know is that we are fighting a

spiritual warfare and the Devil is busy trying to

kill, steal and destroy us! That is the one thing

we do know.

So to help us defeat this giant we ask the question………..

How does God react in situations like these? What does God do?

Because many times if we are real honest, we want God to come in and weed out our Saul’s don’t we? Blow up the plant, do a raid on our job, just come thru and wipe out all the sinners and folks we do not like and leave the rest. (Boom!)

Isn’t that how we feel? Isn’t that how we want God to do?

- Generally we do not like no pressure on us; we

cannot stand to be harassed

- We do not want nobody making us feel uncomfortable,

we do not like hostile situations

- We do not want nobody cracking jokes on us

- We don not want nobody telling us how overweight or

underweight we are

- To be real honest, people of God are quite finicky! We cannot take any pressure, no less a SAUL!

That is what happens isn’t it?

God does not just blow up our enemies and leave us standing.

God do not pull out a sniper rifle and kill off one by one and leave us standing

We won’t God to attack like a Pit Bull, but God does not work that way.

So what does God do? How do I defeat my giants of Saul in my life?

How do we shake the haters? How do we get rid of those who attack us?

What does God do if he is not going to drop the “A” bomb on them?

Ill tell you how! Look for your Jonathan! God always puts a Jonathan in our lives! (U Just missed it)

God counters Saul’s cruelty with Jonathan’s loyalty.

- Jonathan could have been just as jealous as Saul

was, but he was not.

- Think about it, he was Saul’s son; he was next in

line to inherit the throne.

- He has been fighting the Philistines a long time,

way before David even came on the scene.

- Jonathan had a reason to despise David, but he did

not

Look what God does………..

God tied there souls together. 18:1

Ever since David killed Goliath, Jonathan had his back. 18:3-4

Jonathan took off David’s country boy robe and put on his royal robe.

The reality is that on that day he crowned David. That was the day that the heir to the throne surrendered the throne.

- Not only that, then he proceeds to protect him.

Look at what he does……….

- When Jonathan heard Saul’s plots he informed him

- When Saul came after David he hid him 19:2 b clause

(now….)

Jonathan gives David a Promise, the Proper wardrobe and he gave him Protection.

I am almost through and you still have not gotten it yet. I am working real hard and you sleep.

God gave David a friend in Jonathan.

- Someone to be an alley to

- He was someone who let David be David (help)

- a person he could feel safe with

- a person he did not have to worry about

- a faithful friend

- he gave him a companion

I wish you knew where I was headed.

God gave David Jonathan, but guess what?

God gave us a friend too, and his name is JESUS! (Jesus)

- David found a companionship in the Prince of Israel

- We have companionship IN THE KING OF ISRAEL (My God)

- He has made a covenant with us, just like Jonathan

- Math 28:20 Lo I am with you even until the end of

the earth

My Brother and Sister I would even like to submit to you that Jesus outdoes Jonathan.

He gave us a robe of royalty that we might have a right to the tree of life, and not only did he give us a robe but he put on our dirty robe.

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God (Where my Bible readers at)

Jesus dresses us and he equips us!

- He invites us to put on the whole armor of God so

that you will be able to stand firm against the

devil

- He gave us the belt of truth

- The body of righteousness

- The shield of faith

- The sword of the Spirit

(Do I have anybody here that know what I am talking about)

Just as Jonathan protected David, Jesus protects us!

- John 10:28 I give them eternal life and

they shall never perish, neither shall any

man pluck them out of my hand (My God)

You long for a true friend, you have one! And because you do, you have a choice. You can focus on your Saul or your Jonathan! (I am trying to find a stopping point before I preach this thing out)

- How can you shift your focus off an abuser or

someone who raped you?

- How can you deal with a nagging co-workers?

- How can you live with an unfaithful man?

- How can I defeat the giant of Saul’s in my life?

- How can I escape Saul when he lives with us?

- He is on our jobs and in our lives at every turn?

How can I escape?

Can I tell you………….

-Focus on your friend Jesus!
