Angel Ministry 1

The past few years has produced many books about angels. Not only Christian books but many secular books, trash magazines, and TV shows.

70% of Americans believe in angels. Most of the things that we believe about angels have been told to us through hear say, fantasies, and misinformation.

As we start this study of angels we must put aside what WE think and go to the only authority on angels, THE WORD OF God

There has been reported more and more about encounters with angels and I think that I know the reason.

God works with man in different ways at times called Dispensations.

1. Innocence – God walked and related to Adam one on one.

Ge 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

2. Conscience Gen.3: 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.

There was no written law and man did what his conscience told him right from wrong.

3. Government. This is where human law was installed.

4. Promise. This is the age that God promised to Abraham a great nation was to come from him.

5. Law. This is the age where God set down rules of worship and conduct.

6. Grace. Jesus and the Holy Spirit dwells with in us to guide and direct us brought the fullness of grace.

7. Divine Government. This is the age to come and God will again dwell with His people. Angels of all kinds, Cherubim,

Seraphim, and a Varity of others work and dwell in this dispensation.

These Dispensations are not set up on a certain day and then the next dispensation starts, IT IS A BLENDING OF BOTH DISPATIONS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME.

We know a dispensation is about 2000 years. I believe we are the people that are going to see the Kingdom dispensation come in.

Matt.24: 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only

We don’t know when the age of Grace started, the birth of Jesus, the Death of Jesus, the day of Pentecost, the Jewish calendar, the solar calendar, all these things are debated among Bible scholars but I know Israel was made a country in 1948 and Jesus said The generation that sees it happen will not die until they see it.

Jesus said no one knows the day, but He says we can know the season.

I believe the reason angel encounters are becoming apparent to even the world is that we are approaching a new way God is going to deal with man.

I. The Purpose of Angels.

Heb.1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Angels are sent to minister to heirs of salvation.

Angel ministry is for OUR protection .

The angels minister in the spiritual realm where most of our problems come from. We are not in a battle with flesh and blood but principalities and powers in the spiritual realm.

Daniel was praying and was not getting an answer and he did not know why. An Angel showed up and told Daniel there was a war in the spiritual realm.

The Service they render: protection or deliverance in time of trouble:

II Kings 6:15-17. “And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, ‘Alas my master! What shall we do?’ Elisha answered, ‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

(Dan. 6:21-22). “Then Daniel said to the king, ‘O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions mouths, so that they have not hurt me.”

Acts 12:7 “Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, ‘Arise quickly!’ And his chains fell off his hands.”.

The scripture tells us we should pay close attention to the things we have heard about Angle ministry lest they slip our minds.

Heb. 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard lest at any time we should let them slip

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Angels ministered to Jesus.

The scripture tells us of angels ministering to Jesus after his temptation in the wilderness and in Gethsemane where he said Matt.26: 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

That is 72000 angels,

A word of warning is appropriate at this point. The help that angels can provide is a wonderful blessing.

We are not to live in continual dependence on the ministry of angels. The Bible says the just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:38).

That is God’s highest way for us.

"You might be thinking, "If we are called to live by faith and faith brings the answer, why do we even need the ministry of angels?"

We need it because learning to live by faith is a process. It’s not something you decide to do today and become an expert at tomorrow.

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God," (Romans 10:17). The Word has to be planted in you. It has to be watered. It has to be cultivated. Through that process, faith comes.

Faith doesn’t always come overnight. That’s why Galatians 6:9 says, "...let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." If we’ll keep on confessing the Word, meditating the Word and acting on the Word—we’ll reap a harvest

II. Angles are Gods Messengers of Mercy

Heb2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;

Angel’s words are to be obeyed because they are sent from God and they cannot forgive disobedience.

Heb2: 3 How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

God does not send angels because we deserve it.

Ex.23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared

21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies and an adversary unto thine adversaries

23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites,

We know they did provoke the angel and only 2 of the people that were delivered from Egypt entered Caanan Land.

Lot was living among the Homosexuals and God sent angels to deliver him. They had chosen of their own free will to live in those evil cities. Lot didn’t really deserve the personal angelic escort that took him to safety, yet God sent it anyway

2 Peter 2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished

Elijah had God answer with fire and he run in fear and doubt from Jezebel. He set down and prayed to die. 1 Kings 19:4-8 God sent angels to minister to him.

III. We can commission Angels.

Isa.36: 1 Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them

4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest

16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;

18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

21 But they held their peace and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying Answer him not.

As Rabshakeh met with Hezekiah’s representatives, he spoke so that all of the people of Jerusalem could hear. He warned them not to be persuaded by Hezekiah to trust in the Lord for deliverance. He reminded the people that the Assyrian army had just defeated the forces in Judah and that, frankly, nothing could stand in the way of King Sennacherib.

THINGS LOOKED DARK.

37:1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

4 It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left

6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

14 And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

15 And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying

20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.

36 Then the angel of the LORD went forth and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

185,000 woke up dead from one Angel.

Hezekiah got angel ministry by (1) Repented, (2) Opened Gods Word, (3) Prayed earnestly.
