Summary: I hope to show in this sermon that there is, and forever will be, only one Savior, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.

WHAT KIND OF SAVIOR DO WE ALL NEED?

Text-Luke 2:11-"For unto you is born this day in the

city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

KJV

Introduction-

I hope this morning to proclaim the truth that

there is One, and only One Hope for our world, and

that includes all mankind, and this Hope is none

other than the Lord Jesus Christ.

Think with me, this morning, if you will, about why

we all need a Savior, and what kind of Savior we all

need.

I.First of all, WE NEED A SAVIOR WHO CAN RESCUE US

FROM THE PENALTY, POWER, AND PRESENCE OF SIN.

It ought to be very apparant to everyone that the

human race needs redemption. All throughout human

history our world has experienced war, famine,

racial hatred, injustice, and all kinds of other

maladies, that theologians refer to as sin. Our

race is a fallen race. With the outbreak these days

of humanism, and new age beliefs that glorify man,

and imply that man is good, and needs no Savior,

it is often called "ignorance", or "blasphemous to

humanity" to imply that something is wrong with man,

and that the human race needs redemption. All the

violence, social discrimination against the poor

and uneducated, and unfairness in the culture speaks

loudly that man is by nature sinner, not saint.

Acts 4:12-"Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven given

among men, whereby we must be saved."

Romans 5:8ff-"But God commendeth his love toward us,

in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for

us. ..."we were reconciled to God by the death of

his Son..."

We need a Savior, because we have all sinned and

come short of the glory of God. Sin has seperated

us from God, and it took the shed blood of Jesus

to bring us back into fellowship with God.

II.WE NEED A SAVIOR WHO KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS US, AND

WHO WILL MAKE US ANEW INTO WHAT WE SHOULD BE.

Hebrews 2:17-18, "In all things it behoved him to

be made like unto his brethren, that he might be

a merciful and faithful high priest in things per-

taining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins

of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered

being tempted, he is able to succor them that are

tempted."

Our Savior was God come in the flesh, yet, he en-

dured temptation in his human nature, so that he

could be our example, and faithful and merciful to

us. He knows our frame. He understands why we

do the things we do. He knows we are but flesh.

He loves us, and made us to become like him.

My niece said something a few days ago, when I saw

her in Yazoo City. It made me rejoice to hear her

say- "Just imagine, God loves me!" That fact won

her and overtook her. She is now living a dedicated

Christian life.

III. WE NEED A SAVIOR WHO CAN COMFORT US IN OUR

DISTRESS, AND GRANT US PEACE AND FORGIVENESS.

Romans 5:1-"Therefore, being justified by faith,

we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus

Christ."

John 14:6-"I will not leave you comfortless: I

will come to you." vs. 27-"Peace I leave with you,

my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth

give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled,

neither let it be afraid."

IV. Fourthly, WE NEED A SAVIOR WHO CAN DELIVER US

FROM DEATH, AND PREPARE A WONDERFUL, ETERNAL HOME

FOR US TO ENJOY FOREVER WITH HIM.

John 14:3-"And if I go and prepare a place for you,

I will come again, and receive you unto myself:

that where I am, there ye may be also."

vs. 2-"In my Father’s house are many mansions..."

V. Fifthly, WE NEED A SAVIOR WHO IS ALWAYS THERE

FOR US TO CALL ON IN PRAYER.

1st John 3:22-"And whatsoever we ask, we receive

of him, becauswe we keep his commandments, and do

those things that are pleasing in his sight."

Conclusion-I could say so much more. I can’t finish

this sermon. I’ll just have to conclude it. Is

there such a Savior, one who is all that we need, who

alone can forgive us and give us everlasting life?

Yes!!!! You know that there is!, And, His name is

Jesus.
