JESUS, THE WATER OF LIFE
John 7:37
INTRO: Water is one of the most important substances known to man. Without it, all life would soon cease to exist. Man’s blood is composed of mostly water.
Over 90% of the human body is water. Jesus said that he was a fountain of water and that whoever would drink from his fountain would never thirst.
I. THE INVITATION IS TO THE THIRSTY.
A. Not to kings, sages rich.
B. But the thirsty, to those who feel the need of salvation.
II. ALL MEN THIRST.
A. They often do not know what it is they want.
B. What they need is the water of life. Pardon for their sins.
III. THE INVITATION IS GENERAL.
A. Jesus stood and cried out.
B. He is earnest today.
C. This also shows the deep feeling of his heart.
IV. THE INVITATION IS GENERAL.
A. If any man thirst.
B. The more thirsty you are, the more you stand in need of water.
V. THE INVITATION IS FREE.
A. Come unto me and drink.
B. Go not to the world; it is empty.
C. Go not to the law: it condemns you.
D. Go not to the sacraments of the Church: They were not intended to
take away guilt.
F. But "come unto me," drink life’s cup, drink it full.
F. Come without delay.
