IN ACCOUNT WITH GOD

Romans 14:12

INTRO: We worry a great deal about our bank account in the world that we live in, and we have charge accounts everywhere to try to make ourselves as comfortable as possible. But we don t seem to care about the most important account of all that we have. It is our account with God.

I. "SO THEN EVERY ONE OF US SHALL GIVE ACCOUNT OF HIMSELF TO GOD."

C. It is easy to make a record, but what sort of record

is it going to be?

II. OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS GREAT.

A. Because much depends upon our record.

B. When we come to give our account to God, every secret

we have will be known.

C. How careful should we live then?

1. We can see their faults.

2. But we are powerless to turn the searchlight on

ourselves.

E. We are what we have made ourselves.

III. OUR RESPONSIBILITY HAS REFERENCE TO OUR DUTIES.

A. If we have been faithful in the discharge of duty then

our account will be all right.

B. It will meet God s approval.

IV. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO OTHER MEN, BUT ACCOUNTABLE ONLY TO

GOD.

A. We are our brothers keeper.

B. We owe every man a debt, and every man owes us.

V. IF WE CAN DAILY REMEMBER THAT WE SHALL HAVE TO GIVE AN

ACCOUNT TO GOD, IT WILL DO THREE THINGS.

A. It will prove a check upon us.

B. It will act as a stimulus in doing God s will.

C. It will daily remind us of our weakness and need for

Christ.
