Summary: This sermon shows us how to catch the miracle that is passing our way.

The Prophet symbolizes (The Word and the Power of God).

Elisha coming to Shunem is equivalent to the Word of God coming to your ears.

The day that you hear the Word of God is the most important day of your life.

The Word of God is the Power of God

Your healing is in the Word

Your deliverance is in the Word

Your joy is in the Word

Your Prosperity is in the Word

Your anointing is in the Word

Your destiny is in the Word

In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God, the same was in the beginning with God, all things were made by him (The Word) and without him (The Word) was not anything made that was made. John 1:1-3

Everything begins with the Word.

You can shout dance, run, holler, talk in tongues and jump pews, but you haven’t even got started until you get in the Word.

I don’t know what your situation or condition or problem is, but I know what your answer and your solution is ( It’s the Word of God).

He sent his Word and healed them and delivered them from all their destructions.

Ps 107:20

Faith is the hand that reaches out and takes hold of the blessings of God, but it is the Word of God that quickens the hand of faith.

Elisha passed to Shunem where was a great woman.

Tell 3 people there’s a miracle coming your way.

Prophesy to someone and tell them: restoration is coming your way, financial breakthrough is coming your way, salvation for your house is coming your way.

I came to tell someone: There’s a miracle in the house,

The Word is in the house, the miracle power of God is in the house.

Before this woman received her miracle she made a place for the Prophet ( in other words she made a place for The Word to live in her house).

It’s not enough for The Word to pass by you every Sunday, you have got to take hold of The Word and pull it into your world.

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Pro 4:20-22

The only Word the bible promises will bring life to you and health to your flesh is the word that you listen intently to, that you look at continuously and that you keep in the midst of your heart.

Let’s see how she got her miracle:

First: She perceived the Word, she perceived the prophet as the spokesman for God.

You have got to recognize the Word as the very life force of God, you have to realize the Word is the creative power of God, It is not just another book.

It is alive with healing, salvation, deliverance, miracles, supernatural provision, direction, correction, instruction.

Every promise is a miracle seed waiting to be planted in the soil of your heart.

When you truly perceive the power of the Word of God, you will fall in love with it, you will eat it like a starving man, you will drink from it like a man dying of thirst.

Second :

She received the word, ( She took it in, she made it personal) It’s one thing to recognize the validity of the Word of God and the truth and the necessity of the Word of God, but it is another to personalize it and make it the priority of your life.

She changed her house to accommodate the man of God (The Word of God).

Sadly today the attitude of many believers is to change the Word to accommodate their life style.

But the problem is for them is this: There is no amended version, there are no amendments to the ten commandments.

The Word of God is not negotiable,

Forever O Lord thy Word is settled in the heavens. Ps 119:89

My covenant will I not break nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Ps 89:34

To truly receive The Word means it has become the final authority in your life, it is the standard that you measure your life by and live by.

In Shunem there was a great woman:

This woman had a reputation of being kind, and generous and hospitable but what really made her great was her insight, her spiritual perception, her ability to discern where God was at work.

Elisha had passed by many houses and they failed to identify the anointing and recognize the presence of God in his life.

In fact he had passed by her house also, and she had missed it, sometimes you gotta miss it before you get it right.

Don’t condemn yourself if you missed it, If you miss it once or twice that’s sad, but if you miss it 5 or 6 times that’s stupid.

Sometimes God hides his anointing in a shepherd boy, sometimes in a Gideon hiding behind the wine press, sometimes he takes a nobody from nowhere who nobody ever expected to do anything or go anywhere and he puts his anointing down on the inside of them and uses them to change the world.

Sometimes we miss what God is wanting to do, because we can’t get passed the wrapper, we’re stuck on the packaging, and they don’t fit our idea of a man or a woman of God.

Tell your neighbor: There’s more to me than what you see:

Don’t judge me by my size, because I’m bigger than that.

Don’t judge me because I was born on the wrong side of the tracks.

Don’t judge me because I don’t have a degree.

Don’t judge me based on my car, or my house or my clothes.

If you’re looking in the natural you’re going to miss it.

If you judge me by the flesh you’re going to miss it.

Henceforth know we no man after the flesh 2 Co 5:16

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the Excellency of the power may be of God and not of us

2 Co 4:7

One day this woman looked at her husband and said: Now I perceive (Now the eyes of my spirit are open).

I see something that was already there but I didn’t know it.

Many times the reason we are not seeing with the eyes of our spirit is because our natural eyes are in control, our natural eyes are full of earthly matters and concerns, even good and legitimate things, our business or career, our spouses, our children, even our ministry, and God is passing by us and we are missing it because our spiritual eyes are closed.

Put your hand over your eyes and say:

Lord let me see it, open my spiritual eyes.

In between passings of the prophet this woman got a revelation, she recognized the anointing of God in Elisha’s life.

And basically she said to her husband (next time I’ll be ready, next time I’ll be watching, next time I’ll be listening, next time I’m going to be looking with the eyes of my spirit.

Next time he passes by, I’m going to reach out and get a hold on him.

I can hear this woman say: I missed it the last time, but the last time was the last time.

I refuse to let him pass me by one more time, this time I’m going to make some room for him.

I’m going to clear the clutter out of my life and create an environment for the man of God, the Word of God, the anointing to be comfortable in.

Excuse all the commotion neighbor, but I’ve got to make some room, I’ve got to move some things around I’ve got to get my priorities straightened out, there’s some excesses in my life that have to go.

There’s some movies I got to throw out, some music I got to get rid of , and there’s some friends I’ve got to cut loose that are holding me back.

This woman was great because her spiritual eyes were opened and she recognized the authority of the Word of God and the presence of the anointing of God.

Because she created an environment for the Man of God

Because she pursued the anointing

One of the greatest dangers we face as believers and as a church is that of becoming indifferent to the anointing, taking the presence of God and the Word of God for granted.

Every time we come to church we should be looking for where God is moving, pulling on the anointing pulling on The Word of God.

Constraining him, seeking him out,

This woman tapped into the miraculous because she perceived the anointing, made room for the Word of God in her life.

and because she sowed into the Anointing.

She sowed a room with a bed a stool and a table and candle, and she reaped a miracle harvest (a son).

Somebody needs a miracle harvest today:

It may be healing for your body, salvation for a loved one, or it may be a financial miracle that you need.

Or it could be for your ministry.

I don’t know what your need is but I do know (your miracle is in your seed).

She named her seed, it was a son seed.

Just as you would be specific when planting tomatoes. You wouldn’t plant cucumbers and expect to reap tomatoes.

She was specific.

Your seed documents your faith.

Your seed tells heaven, I expect a miracle.

Just as the natural seed puts a demand on the soil, your seed puts a demand on the Power of God.

Something you have will create what you need.

Neighbor all you need is a seed.
