Summary: Point to help us understand we are in a battle, we are armed, and we are dangerous

I am Armed and Dangerous

Eph 6:16-17

.

*** notice that the Spirit always acts in harmony with the written word of God ***

The word arm: is a Greek word = ’hoplizo’ meaning to be equip w/ arms

The word sword: is a hand weapon having a long sharp pointed blade - it is a symbol of divine chastisement!

** We do not even realize what we are holding!! Or how powerful or weapon is!! We are carrying life and death in our hands!!

The keys to heaven & hell!! The way to God’s heart!! His Son in the flesh! Eternal life

Heb. 4:12

For the Word of God is quick & powerful and sharper than any 2 edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit and the joints and marrow and its a discerner of the thought and intents of the heart.

1Sam 17:45

Then said David to the Philistine, thou comest to me with a sword and with a spear and a shield, but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of Host, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defiled. This day the Lord will deliver thee into mine hand.

Gen.3:24

So He drove out the man: and placed at he east of the garden of Eden, Cherubims & a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Put on the whole armor of God:

Armor defined

= it was used as a intimidating factor

= it was used to protect the body in the war

Our weapons do not avail = “flesh and blood” but the Lords weapons do “spiritual”

1 Sam 17:24

And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were sore afraid. They were by intimidated him.

Put on: notice that this is a command for us –

Being un-armed, we are very weak and easily beaten.

1 Tim 1:18

I charge you Timothy that thou by them mightiest war a good warfare.

1Tim 6:12

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,

** Notice: that when we are armed, we are ready for battle!! **

2 Corinthians 10:4-6

For our weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds (a place having strong defenses ) Casting down imaginations & every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, & bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. And having in a readiness ( being on guard ) to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Go over the Story of the wall repair in Nehemiah.

Nehemiah 4:6 says

For the people had a mind to work!!

Notice this about them, while they were working the enemy was on there way.

They worked with a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other hand.

Armed and ready!!

Knowing that they need to fix the areas in which the enemy would be able to get in.

They worked with diligence!!

Read Nehemiah. 4:19-23 and hit the points!

Vs. 19 The work is great and large

Vs. 20 Our God shall fight for us

Vs. 21 We labored

Vs. 22 Be on guard

Vs. 23 We are always prepared for the battle
