JUDGMENT # 2 “THE JUDGMENT OF SELF” 1st Cor.11: 31-32 8-02-08 Today we’ll continue our study to do with “the seven judgments” that we find in the Bible.
Listen as I read today’s text verses found in 1st Cor.11: 31-32
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
This means, self-examination, the benefit of such examination is that we should not be judged. In other words, saved people may either exercise their own judgment upon themselves, or they may await God’s judgment. This is to do with restoration of fellowship with the Father.
Allow me to give you the names of the 7 judgments again.
The SEVEN JUDGMENTS ARE:
#1-{the judgment of sin,} this took place on the cross of Christ.
-#2- {self-judgment of our daily sins}, after we’re saved.
#3- {the judgment seat of Christ}, where all that are saved will be judged for our stewardship, our works after we were saved and thus rewarded accordingly, this is after the rapture of the Church}-
And #4-{-the judgment of Israel, Jacobs Trouble, Jer. 30:7, “name-Gen.32:28--35:10” and this has to do with the Tribulation period. The Tribulation is “Jacobs trouble”. But it will effect all the earth.
-#5-{the judgment of the nations}, this takes place after Christ returns and has defeated His enemies at Armageddon, at the end of the 7 year Tribulation, “Rev.19:” but just prier of Him setting up His Kingdom, the 1000 year reign of Christ.
-#6-the judgment of the fallen angels}-
And #7 is of coarse, {the White Throne judgment}, this is when all the lost souls are brought out of hell and judged according to their wickedness, and according to the degree of their wickedness be tormented in the lake of fire, there are not any saved people judged at this judgment, these are all lost.
Have you ever noticed that when a person is first saved, it seems as though he’s on cloud #9 so to speak, he says to himself that he’ll never do any thing wrong again, he hates the devil and he’s full of zeal, he wants to stay busy for the Lord, he’s shouting the victory.
And then suddenly out of nowhere he’s suddenly face with the sin that so easily besets him. Hebrews 12:1-- let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us,- Most of us has an, “ the sin which doth so easily beset us” Unbelief is the sin that hinders many of us, and also “the sin” may refer to one sin above all others that defeats many Christians, and it may be a different weakness for each Christian. Some of us are weaker in some areas than others, where you might be strongly opposed to a particular sin, another Christian might be weak in, but primarily “the sin” is to do with “unbelief”
Maybe this zealous Christian suddenly realizes that he are she has sinful and lustful thoughts to come into his or her mind and have judged that sinful thinking to be wrong, he then starts to wonder if he’s really saved are not, and “doubt” is the work of the devil in a saved persons life.
But let me remind us that we’re saved because we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord & Saviour, realizing that we must not confuse judgment #1 with judgment #2. As saved people we can not be lost again because Jesus has taken care of the “sin” problem on the Cross.- judgment #1- that we talked about last time.
2 Corinthians 5: 21 For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
Judgment #1 and judgment #2 are all together different and separate.
As saved people we need to confess our sins regularly, every day, in order to stay in fellowship with our heavenly Father.
I know a man that told me that he has not sinned since he has been saved. But we know that that is no true, 1 John 1:8-10 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Let me say that it is true that the inner man does not sin, the inner man has been sealed unto the day of redemption but I know of no one that don’t sin with the outer man, this old flesh, the Apostle Paul said in two different places in Rom. 7: that “sin” dwelt in him, and I doubt if any of us can put ourselves above Paul.
Here are some excuses that PEOPLE give concerning THEIR SINS:
CAST BLAME others. -Adam blamed Eve, Genesis 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat
Saul blamed the people when the sheep bleated”
1 Sam. 15: 13-15 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD. 14And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? 15And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen,
And then people try to cover their sins:
Prov. 28:13 “He that covereth his sin, shall not prosper.”
We can blame others for our sins or we can CONFESS THEM. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
All of us find ourselves within these things that peoples do.
After a person gets saved, he or she is either a “dear child, or a “disobedient child”.
Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
The Holy Spirit indwells every believer and seals every believer, but we can grieve the Holy Spirit. If we do sinful things. —But it doesn’t mean that we are no longer children of God.
Listen: Have any of us ever had children in our family that have never done any thing that we didn’t approve of? I have yet to meet a perfect youngun. I have seen some more behaved than others but none perfect.
When your child does some thing that is wrong do you disown him? Of coarse not, a loving and caring parent will warn the child that if he or she don’t stop what ever it is that he or she may be doing wrong that he’s going to get a whipping, and if he continues to be disobedient then we’ll have to keep our word to do with a whipping or he’ll always figure that he’ll always get by without minding his parents.
The same truth applies to our heavenly Farther, He has countless millions of children, and he’ll deal with each and every one of them, He’ll let none go unpunished if they continue to rebel, NONE.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
Now listen as I read Hebs.12: 5-11 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: -- chastening-- means to education or train and instruct. In other words He talks to His children through His Word, the Bible. We can learn what He expects from His children as we read His Instruction manual.
The best of God’s children need chastisement. They have their faults, which need to be corrected. God may let others alone in their sins since they’re not His, but He will correct sin in his own children; they are of his family, they will not escape his rebukes.
No wise and good father will wink at faults in his own children as he would in children that are not his. His relationship and his affections oblige him to take more notice of the faults of his own children than those of others.
To be allowed to go on in sin without a rebuke is a sad sign of alienation from God; such are bastards, not sons, they’re not His children at all. They may call him Father, because of being a church member or any other number of things, but they have never been born again.
Jesus talking to a man with religion in John 3:6 said 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. We can only be born of the flesh one time and the same holds true for being born of the Holy Spirit. Two different births altogether.
A good parent will always try to get the child to do right, first by talking to his child.- chastening-
Vs. 6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth,**{notice always first} and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. --- scourgeth--- means, if the talking to the child don’t do the job, He’ll then whip His child. It means to flog.
First Peter 2:20 “For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently… Peter says there is no value in the suffering, which was caused by our own foolishness.
7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards,*( illegitimate) and not sons. 9Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
These two words on the end of verse 9 are not put here to take up space-- and live--
If our Heavenly Father deals with His disobedient child through “chastening”** and then He has to “scourge”** -whip. And still His child does not come back into subjection of the Father, the heavenly Father may take His child home early, He’ll not allow a child of His to continually bring reproach on the name of His Only Begotten Son, the Lord Jesus.
1 John 5: 16--there is a sin unto death. The very next sin, may be the “a sin” unto death”
10For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
If a so called child of God can contiue in sin day in and day out and never is covicted or correted of God, the reason may that that person simply is not saved. Because we’re plainly told in Vs. 6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Once you have become a child of God you’ll go to heaven when you die, you may go as a disobedient child and possible lose the rewards that you could have, but you will go.
Rewards will be given to His obedient children according to their works after their saved. But its possible to find ones self at the judgment seat of Christ and find that because we allowed sin to come into our lives and never confessed and turn from them, there’ll be no rewards.
2 John 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.** if I’m not careful I’m going to be talking about judgment #3-{the judgment seat of Christ}
Listen brothers and sisters, if we allow sin to pile up in our lives, our pray channel gets all clogged up and we can’t get our prayers through to the Father, and there may come a time, and I’m sure there will, That we’ll desperately need to hear from the Father and He’ll not be able to bless His child the way that He’d like to. God can not and will not tolerated sin in His presents, if you’ll recall, He turned His back on His own Son as Jesus was on the cross, and it was because the sins of the whole world was on Him, but it had to be done.
Prov. 28:13 “He that covereth his sin, shall not prosper.”
So let us judge our self, and not have to be judged of the Father.
